Im filing a complaint after j thurston fuel delivered oil that was never authorized. Typically one would believe this is a mistake but they demanded payment of what I found to be $2 over what home heating oil was going for at the time, I called to complain and the owners response was basically ‘oh well, if it’s in your tank you’re responsible’. When I purchased the home I had nearly 1/4 tank (this home was never lived in or had heat on under my ownership) I had an additional 100 gallons delivered to avoid any smudging issues. Later j thurston claims to have pumped in about 172 gallons which would not have physically fit in my tank. When the fact that the oil was never ordered, they wanted such an outrageous price over market value, and combines with the discrepancy of oil delivered I can confidently say these people are just running a scam. If you look up their ****** reviews you’ll see this company continuously has the same complaints involving fraudulent deliveries. I refused to pay them until I eventually offered a settlement that would have been cheaper than dealing with getting an attorney but I want it noted that this ‘business’ is scamming people to make a buck so when it happens to the next guy they have a harder time trying to say it’s an accident.Business response

We delivered 100 gallons of oil to Mr. ******* address on August 31st 2022. Mr ***** was a new customer for us and unfortunately during the set up of his account in our delivery system we made a mistake and set his account for automatic delivery. This is why he received another delivery from us on 11/21/22. When Mr ***** called us to ask why we delivered oil to his house we realized our error and apologized. We offered the oil to him at our cost or we could come and pump it out it out of his tank. Mr ***** refused both options ands said he would get back to us. Mr ***** questioned the amount of oil put in his tank and requested the State of Connecticut Dept. of Consumer Protection verify our trucks delivery meters. The inspection was completed on December 13, 2022 and all our truck meters were found to be in compliance and working order.
In an effort to resolve the situation with Mr ***** we offered another 27% discount off the wholesale cost we paid for the oil. We also provided proof / detail as to retail market price of oil for that day.
Mr ***** agreed to this resolution and we are waiting to recieve his payment.

I am rejecting this response because:
I did mail out the check for the agreed upon amount. I only did this to avoid having to go to court. I’d still like this documented for the next, since these guys are effectively in business to steal from people. Pumping oil out is not a reasonable solution, additionally just because their gauges on the truck are deemed accurate does not mean they are delivering the amount they say they are. If it was a a ‘mistake’ like they claim any respectable business would take the loss, not expect someone else to pay for their mistakes because they are incapable at doing even the simplest of jobs.

Thurston Fuel delivered heating oil to my home , I specifically always ask not to drive on my driveway with heavy oil trucks so driveway won’t get damaged Thurston Fuel even have note on their ticket to not to drive on the driveway During oil delivery driver drove on the driveway and cracked driveway in multiple locations, I don’t believe driveway can be repaired at this point and will never be the same, probably start cracking even more with time I paid for oil delivery in full , and was very clear with the message not to drive on the driveway for that reason I contacted the company and they call me back, Gentlemen name Jim ask me to send him pictures of my driveway, I did that . Problem is not resolved and I’m left with cracked driveway that will never be the sameBusiness response

We have contacted Mr. ******* regarding the damage to the of the left side of his driveway and consulted with a driveway repair contractor to fix the sections of pavement that were damaged.

I am rejecting this response because:
Business is trying to repair small sections of the driveway, driveway will never be the same and will continue cracking in the future, this is basically a “band-aid” what they trying to do and I will be stock with the driveway that will never look the same and will continue to crack, driveway should be replaced!
