I had General Oil come out for a boiler cleaning (by Mario) on 11/08/23. Soon after the cleaning, my boiler started making a chugging noise. I emailed General Oil that night to alert them of the issue. In the past (dealing with previous General Oil owner) when this has happened, the boiler just needed an adjustment or nozzle change. General Oil is now owned by ********* ***. I was contacted the next day and told the operator that it stopped chugging after I turned the boiler switch on and off. 11/10/23 I emailed General Oil back as it started chugging again. I asked if someone could come out an adjust the setting. General Oil sent out a Tech (Jeffrey) on 11/13/23 who replaced Oil Primary Control and charged by credit card of $176.36. The boiler started chugging again. On 12/04/23 General Oil sent a Tech (Tom) out to look at the boiler. Soon after Tom said he believed it was the fuel pump. I was concerned about paying once again so Tom took me to the computer he had in his van and showed me the price of the ******* Fuel Pump which said $235ish. He said it was considered a "call back", so I would just be charged the $233-$237. I don't remember the price. After he replaced the fuel pump, the boiler continued to chug. He looked over the boiler and changed the settings multiple times to no avail. Then he decided to check the nozzle. He looked up the proper nozzle for my burner and it was a 50-70A. He said he should not even of had to check that, because the proper one should have been put on during the cleaning. The boiler stopped chugging. He asked if I wanted him to put my fuel pump back on, but I was concerned because he tossed it into liquid that was in his bucket. To my surprise, I got a bill for $872.71. Most of it was labor due to Tom's trouble shooting. I was very upset and called spoke with the owner who said I really need a new burner at the tune of $2000, because my system won't work with the ******* burner I have. More to explain.
