In November of 2023 I signed up for a year long membership that stipulated, in the contract, should I move more than 25 miles away from the location of the **** ******** Anytime Fitness, I could cancel my contract without any fees. This past summer, I have submitted proof that I have moved more than 25 miles away (65+ miles) from the location, spoke once to a manager, and have since been entirely ignored. They will not cancel my membership despite proof, and are charging me. They have ignored multiple emails, calls, and voicemails. It's been weeks. I understood when signing up to cancel a month before moving. In September, I am moving again to ******* *************, and will not have access to the gym or any of its franchises.Customer response

The nature of the dispute is that Anytime Fitness of **** ******** continued to charge my ***** credit card on file with them after I had settled my account with them. I had signed up for a number of sessions with a trainer at the **** ******** location for a specified period of time. After initially starting the training with them I and my husband purchased a condominium in ******* and proceeded to relocate to ******* for a 6-8 month period starting in December of 2023. As it turns out, Anytime Fitness does not transfer contracts out of state, so I entered into discussions with the manager prior to leaving for ******* and had 3 bimonthly payments refunded for a total of $315.79 to settle the account, at which point I was told that I would not be charged any further. The manager manager changed and in January 2024 I was charged $105.29 on January 10th and January 24th. I informed the new manager about the problem and he agreed to stop charging my card and to refund 2x $105.29 = $210.58. That phone call with the new manager took place at the end of January. It is now April 2nd. Anytime has not responded over the last 9 weeks. I have sent them an email and have made three calls to talk to the manager asking for a call back. I have received no responses. To avoid any further financial losses I have had my card temporarily blocked, and will probably have to cancel it eventually. I have uploaded the email thread from my communications with Anytime throughout this process. Zack was the manger we interfaced with (and he did a great job) and Dan was his replacement at the **** ******** location. Aside from an initial face-to-face with Zack (I believe) and the emailing back and forth that followed, I had one brief phone call with the replacement manager Dan towards the end of January in which he said he would mail us the $210.58, which never happened. Our current mailing address is **** ******* ***** ****** ********* ** *****Initial Complaint

Ive been a member of this gym for a a decent amount of time while at college but I wanted to cancel because I do not have a car on campus so I couldn't go for the last part of the semester leading into the summer. When I went to contact them they said they would put my account on pause for 12 months and then after this 12 months my account would be terminated. A couple months later in the summer I started getting charged again even though I wasn't using the membership and didn't want it anymore. I called the gym to get this sorted out and they said that they were in a new ownership and if I send proof of residence being outside of 25 miles of the gym they would cancel my account. After I sent the mail proofing my home is 25 miles outside of the ******** gym they never responded. They keep charging me so I contacted my bank to stop the payments from going through and Anytime fitness it trying to send me to collections. I feel this is unjust as I know a friend who went to another Anytime fitness who was allowed to cancel his membership without any troubles and have been trying to contact the employees but they seem not to care enough to do anything to help me. I would like to come to a conclusion that doesn't have me pay for the months I didn't and couldn't go to the gym.Customer response

On March 19, 2022, I signed up for personal training at Anytime Fitness ******** **. I had switched to my wife's account at that time which was $53.16 a month. I had continued making payments for the training but due to issues with my disability from military service, I was not capable of continuing on. My wife on my behalf contacted the gym to inquire about the gym membership contract cancellation and the cancellation of the personal fitness on May 26th, 2022 but was told I would not be able to cancel the personal fitness even though I discussed my medical condition via email on May 28th. I submitted a notarized letter to end the membership the same day. I continued paying $61.25 bi-weekly for the 6 months. For June through October we were being charged even though I submitted a notarized letter for membership cancellation. My wife on my behalf sent another email inquiring on the charges and for complete cancellation of our contract with refund on October 27th, 2022. We requested information a second time on November 1, 2022 12:14pm. By 12:18pm, we received a confirmation email with an apology and that Anytime Fitness would issue the refund in 3-5 business days. On November 3rd, 2022, we received another email from Customer Care stating that the membership was set to cancel with nothing further due. By November 14th, we sent another email requesting the refunds from the months June through October. Customer Care sent an email stating to contact the gym. We sent another email November 21, 2022 to the gym requesting the refund. Customer care responded that they did not receive authorization. December 1, 2022 we sent another email to Anytime Fitness ******* with all the previously stated information including email chain. Customer care followed up with confirmation of refund processing in 3-5 days. Anytime Fitness followed up that we are past due for $390.84 due to lack of documentation. We submitted again ** documentation stating that I was 100% P &T. No response.Business response
