On the morning of Tuesday January 16 at approximately 4:30 am I was getting ready to leave for work and 3 tow trucks came dow the road and block in my truck. I ran outside to see what was going on and the driver said they were towing my truck due to parking on wrong side of the street. I said I will move it at that moment and the driver said it i couldn’t cause he already hooked the tow truck to my truck. Which it was not hook up to my truck. At this point the 3 tow trucks have me blocked in. One behind me, one in front of me and one on the side of me. At that point the tow truck driver told me the only way my truck wasn’t going to be towed was to give them $200 cash. I had asked them to unblock my truck several times and they said they weren’t going to unless I paid them $200 or they were going to tow it. At this point I was late to work and being blocked in by the 3 tow trucks and felt like I was being bullied I had to pay the money. This was a horrible experience and I truly feel like I was bullied into paying them the money. I have pictures that show the tow truck wasn’t connected to my truck and pictures of the snow showing the truck was never connected to or lifted by the tow truckCustomer response

On Wednesday January 31 2024 I received a voicemail from someone I believe his name was **** calling about my complaint to the bbb stating that I put the complaint on the wrong business. Claim they aren’t **** **** ****** and are York auto sales. Now when I first put in the complaint and selected **** **** ****** it defaulted to York auto sales. Now when I ****** York auto sales and **** **** ****** they both have the same address* *** ****** **** **** **** ***** ** *****. I have also attached screen shots of ****** showing **** **** ****** and York auto sales have the same address.
I don’t understand why they are playing a game saying they are not the company that did this to me
all I want is a refund of the $200 they bullied me into paying. There was no reason to block my truck in with 3 of their tow trucks and refuse to move their tow trucks unless I paid them $200 or they were towing it.

We received the complaint ******** that you have forwarded and are happy to respond and provide some clarity to the situation. We recognize that the consumer is upset that their illegally parked vehicle was ticketed then towed during a city parking ban for snow on January 16, 2024. City parking ban information can be found here: *****************************************************s, is clearly marked by street signs, and communicated widely across many platforms before and during a snow storm. In addition, the vehicle hooked for tow had already been ticketed by the city allowing for the vehicle owner many opportunities to relocate the vehicle prior to towing. We were directed by the **** ** **** ***** ****** ********** to tow cars on this street that were ticketed during the parking ban to help keep the city safe during a storm and allow plow trucks to get through for clean-up. Of the $200 collected by our firm, $100 goes directly to **** ** **** ***** to cover the vehicle owner's fine as noted on the vehicle ticket and municipality webpage, and as a courtesy, our driver offered a discounted price of $100, regular price is $130.65 to the consumer for the hook fee. Thank you for bringing this to our attention, we are sorry you received this complaint and hope the consumer is follows city parking rules in the future, but as you can see by the photos the consumer provided, the street was covered in snow and vehicle already hooked to truck, and our commitment is to the keeping the streets safe during the snowstorm for all and were directed by the authorities to remove the vehicle; no good deed goes unpunished as we did offer the vehicle owner a discounted hook rate.Business response

To be clear I am not upset about being ticketed. I had worked a double shift and did not pay attention to the weather or know about the parking ban. That’s 100% on me.
what I’m upset about is the actions of your drivers. The tow truck was never hooked up to my truck. I have provided pictures showing that it wasn’t hook up. I also provided pictures also showing that the snow under , behind, or near my tires was not disturbed proving my truck was never hooked up to the tow truck. Also 3 of the tow trucks blocked in my truck from the front, back and the side so I could not move my truck and refused to move them unless I paid $200. Please explain to me why your company uses 3 tow trucks to block some one in.
another question I have is if you are committed to keeping the streets safe why would you allow one of your drivers to be out towing cars at 4:30-5:00 am in a dangerous snow storm with a very young child in the tow truck?
Your drivers were a perfect example of predatory towing and also putting a child in a dangerous position allow the driver to tow in a snow storm with a young child in the tow truck.
I have talked to the west haven police about this incident. I showed them the pictures and they agreed the drivers show of given me the chance to move my truck. I also followed their advice putting in the complaint with the BBB, DMV and with the city clerk.
could you also explain to me why a voice Mail was left on my phone from your company saying I put the complaint in on the wrong company but now you responded to the complaint and it was your company.
it is against the law to block in a vehicle so they can’t move and demand $200 or they are going to tow it.
I truly hope in the future you company stops allowing young children out with the tow trucks drivers in the middle of the night in snow storms. Towing cars is a very dangerous job and it’s no place for a child to be.Customer response

The customer was given all paperwork at time of purchase . The customer has not given us a phone call prior to this message about any concerns also they purchased the vehicle as is from us 11 months ago. However they have an extended warranty with the company *** if they had called and asked for the information they could have easily contacted the company about a near by service facility to take it to close to there home or any other state that they might be in at the time of having mechanical trouble .
