On Monday, September 12th I took my 2008 ****** ******** with 192,576 to Midas, 1620 Rhode Island Ave, NE, Washington, DC 20018. I told the manger that I had just purchased the car and I think it had oil leak. I stated that this engine had potential for a head gasket failure. He stated that usually a head gasket failure would leak coolant but he would do a complete inspection. About two hours later he called and started listing all the work that needed to be done on the vehicle. I asked him to email me the estimate (which he did) and told him I would get back to him. After reviewing the estimate I agreed to everything but two items: replacing the front tires and replacing a rusted out exhaust flange. He tried to talk me into both those items stating that the vehicle would not pass inspection. I told him that the vehicle had already passed inspection. Everything I agreed to added up to $4,843.80, a lot of money but at least I did not have a head gasket failure. I picked the car up the next day and paid the bill. By Friday, September 16th I noticed that the vehicle was still leaking oil. Over the weekend I crawled under the car and saw a major oil leak. I was not going to take it back to Midas because I did not trust them, it was impossible not to notice the leak. On Tuesday, September 20th I took the vehicle to another mechanic (** **** ****). I gave them copy of the invoice I received from Midas. Upon inspection they confirmed that the vehicle had a major head gasket failure and found it unbelievable that Midas 1) did not notice or tell me about the oil leak/head gasket failure or 2) completed all the other work which was not urgent compared to the head gasket failure. On the same day I called and spoke to the manager at Midas, he refused to talk to me and hung up.I have spent $4,843.80 with Midas and now have to spend an additional $2,000 to have the head gasket and all associated work completed.Initial Complaint

On or around 3/22/2022, my 2001 ***** ***** was towed to the Midas Auto Service Experts to have my breaks replaced and the gear shift repaired because it was loose. On or about 3/24/2022, I was called by ******* stating my vehicle was ready for pick-up. Because my sister and niece were close to Midas, I asked them to pick up the truck because I was home because I had just buried my husband and still very upset. I paid for services for which I thought I had approved in the amount of $2255.14 to Midas via credit card and my vehicle was driven away by my sister. Upon arriving at my home, my sister could not put the vehicle in "R" rear to back into the parking spot. My sister called me to tell me what she was experiencing and we called Midas back and spoke with ******* and ******* told us to bring the vehicle back. Tristen informed me that they forgot to fix the gear shift and then shortly thereafter, he informed me that the tow truck operator had broke the part. I had to wait almost a week or so for an investigation to be complete from a third party which stated the tow truck operator was not at fault. Meanwhile, I told Midas to make the repair to the gear shift and that I would wait to reimbursed. Several days went by and I was later informed from the Manager (****) that they could not find the part. I ended up getting the part needed from a dealership from ******* and I went to ************* up and delivered it back to Midas. **** informed me that my vehicle would not be ready today (Thursday) but definitely by Friday, the next day. I was later informed my Midas that the part they told me was needed, did not fit my car and there was nothing else they could do for my vehicle and I needed to take it to a transmission shop or to a dealership to have that part fixed. I shared with ******* that I just buried my husband and that my husband told me not to drive the truck because the brakes were bad, The other thing that needed to be fixed was the gear shift.
