Residents of ******************************: We moved in August 8, 2022; 3 Months into our lease, none of the concerns we listed on our move-in paperwork were addressed. January 22, 2023 we put in a maintenance request for our apartment flooding, (every time it rained). The head of maintenance, *****, told us at the foundation of the building has shifted, so the building was separating. We were never offered an apartment to switch to, so from January 22, 2023 up until the day we left the apartment, June 30, 2023, we continued to experience flooding every time it rained coming from underneath the pantry and the wall of the kitchen; into dining room, and living room. Lets not forget the hot water heater had apparently been leaking since we moved into the apartment, causing damage to everything that was in the storage closet, molding the bottom of our dressers, and absolutely saturating the carpet in the bedroom. The hot water heater was fixed, but the hole was left in the storage closet, and never repaired. The carpet was left wet until I had to go up to the office to basically beg for it to be dried. The carpet was never cleaned (literally just dried) so we had a horrible smell that we could not get rid of. In moving out we found mold on the floor where the water had been gathering in places we couldnt see due to furniture. I am absolutely sure, due to the amount of water we have seen since January, the baseboards are probably also molded as well. Which I believe explains this cough I cant get rid of and will be seeing a doctor soon. There was a baby raccoon in the wall behind kitchen sink that which was avoidable, had property done something about the larger raccoon inhabiting the roof they were told about a week prior. I was consistently ignored by the owners Brick Lane, and I am still being ignored by *****************, the current property management company. I would like my rent back as our lease allows (sec. 30 part d) Video & email can also be provided.

      Business Response

      Date: 08/02/2023

      Hello ****************,

I am very sorry to hear about your less than desirable experience at *******************************. My records indicate that you moved into unit **** on August 9th, 2022. On the date of your move in, we received a work order for the air conditioner which was repaired and formally closed on August 12th. As I am sure you recall, on January 1, 2023 we upgraded our system to include a new resident portal. From that date on, we received one work order for your unit. Work order #*** dated January 22, 2023 and was formally closed on February 22, 2023 with completion notes "back up was jetted and now fixed". Unfortunately, Brick Lane no longer manages The Grove effective February 15, 2023. From August 9th up until the date of management transition, Brick Lane received no emails through our Brick Lane Cares channel which was regularly shared with residents as a resource. In summary, the only correspondence we received from you was addressed in a timely manner. If you submitted WOs after February 15 2023, you will need to communicate with the new management team regarding your request.

[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, you must give us a reason why you are rejecting the response. If no reason is received your complaint will be closed as Answered]

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because:

The work order was marked as completed but the labor never finished which is documented in the photo's and I would guess ***************** work order, every time it rained our apartment was flooded. Attempting to dismiss the facts is disappointing. I will agree that my emails seem to have gone to the wrong address and I should have written more instead of taking the office at its word. This issue is not resolved and I have the paperwork from our move in feel free to review it to see all the request from our move in date in which there are several complaints. Also attached is the original lease where our move-in date is clearly stated as July 30, 2022 which the apartment was not ready and we where left homeless until August 9, 2022. I want our funds back because of the complete lack of care/concern this apartment has shown and continues too show. I do believe Bricklane are still the owners do this property and recently hired ***************** to manage ******************************* which makes you still liable.

      Regards,

      *****************************
