I rented a room from Harrington Housing DC this summer. I paid for and was promised th Flex Plus Room which was the biggest room, had windows to the outside, and an AC unit. However, when I showed up I was given a smaller room with no AC and the only windows went into my roomates room. I had no ceiling fan so there was no AC or any circulation in the room making it extremely hard to breathe. I contacted the company and they said there was nothing they could do. I asked for a discount and they still didn't do anything. I had to move out over a month early because it was uninhabitable. I also have yet to receive my security deposit back. They also take out $250 for bedding a furniture deterioration. I barely used the furniture because I was not there most of the time because of the conditions and did not use the bedding because I brought my own.Initial Complaint

On August 25, 2021 I paid Harrington Housing a deposit of $575.11 (USD) for a room in a shared apartment located in Montreal. Harrington Housing sent me a lease that outlined how they were legally allowed to charge a deposit (it is not permitted in Quebec) and it also outlined their responsibility as the landlord for this unit. One of the line items in the lease states: "Licensor will provide Licensee with any necessary pest control disclosures at least 24 hours prior to service." On the day of move-in we were told verbally that the unit had pest control visit the day prior. No mention of anything unusual was stated verbally or in writing. Three weeks later my son noticed bed bugs in his bedroom and notified the landlord representative. This person told my son via ******** that the entire building was infested with bed bugs and it's not an issue because they don't really bother people. My son was disgusted and had bites on his skin. He moved all his items out immediately and we informed Harrington Housing that we would need to terminate the lease based on their violation of the lease terms. Harrington canceled the lease but they did not refund our deposit. We found out from the other tenant in that unit that Harrington rented out my son's former room with two weeks of my son moving out. While I may be able to accept that Harrington would only offer us a partial refund, they have not refunded us any of the money from our deposit. Their failure to refund us any portion of the deposit violates the terms of their own contract and deposit policy. I have called and emailed Harrington Housing more than 8 times and they do not return my emails or phone calls.Initial Complaint

Stay away from this fraudulant company Please read carefully this post as I am not the only one complaining about this company!!!I moved in on September 1st 2021 in the Entertainement district in a Flex premium room with a balcony. When I arrived, I noticed that my room wasn't ready at all and was super dirty. I didn't get new bed linen, I had one sofa in my room (I am not supposed to have one at all as it takes the whole room), a broken wardrobe that is not a wardrobe (it's a mobile storage for camping) and I had a chair... in package that I had to build myself, without any tool. I was told by the manager for Harrigton that the previous tenant moved out a few minutes before I came in so everything was still dirty and they didn't proceed to check if the room was okay. For a few days, I had to fight to get a desk (which was suposed to be in the room) and ask the manager to get rid of sofa. He put half of it on my balcony and told me someone would come and pick it up, and they would come pick up the broken tv on the same day. They did nothing. The broken TV is still on my balcony as long as the "half sofa" that stinks really bad. I cannot use my balcony as it's now a "storage". The electrical outlet still need to be fixed, it's a fire hazard as some electric "light" comes from it : what a lovely idea to hide it behind a couch so It will burn the entire building!!!After being promises over promises, I was told that they want the sofa back in my room because they have nowhere else to put it. My room is not big enough for it and because it has been staying on my balcony for more than a month, it stinks very bad (humidity). I was promised a new wardrobe and someone to come and fix the outlet : NO ONE CAME. The electric outlet had been reported more than 15 times to the team over the past month and nothing. The sofa on my balcony is a health hazard as it's now rotten from the inside and they want to put it back in my room. My roomates and I have been complaining a
