I did a road trip in 2022 with my wife and I went through Delaware. At the time I thought my pass would work- as a matter of fact I was convinced. Life moved forward, and I received last week a letter from a collections office. I tried calling to explain to Delaware but they send me to the Collections people, then I tried with Collections and they send me to EZ Pass. Nobody helps me and nobody understands I never received even the first notification. Furthermore, im being charged a price that is insane , and impossible to pay. I am willing and ready to pay my $4 toll but the rest I will not pay. Additionally, I kept trying to call EZ Pass and I am no longer able to. I have many economical problems and im still trying to settle my $4 in good faith. I hope this is good enough to get help. Thank you.

I received a bill for $54.00 for a $4.00 toll from the State of Delaware Toll Violation Dept. for a toll for 12/27/2023, while I was traveling South over the Delaware Memorial Bridge. They are charging for Administration Fee $25, Ambulance Company Fund $10, Combat Violent Crime $15. This doesn't seem like this is a legal charge. I see online, that several others were charged as I was at one time or another. I called the phone number on the bill and I told them it there was torrential rain on this date at 4 am. I went to a Cash Only Lane with my $4 in hand and there wasn't a toll taker there. So I proceeded through knowing that they would at some time later send me a bill. I travel over the Delaware Memorial Bridge twice a year, traveling from Mississippi via the bridge to New Jersey. I've never had anything like this happen. The person I spoke with on the phone told me that I could appeal it, but it would take at least 2 weeks and then longer as they looked into it, in the meantime, fines would accumulate daily. I paid the $54 as I couldn't take the chance that I would be fined even more on $54. I would appreciate it if this practice of charging someone $50 more for all these extra charges, would be looked into, I feel they need to refund me this bogus $50 that they charged me.

In August of 2023, I mailed my E-ZPass transponders along with a letter requesting for my account to be closed. I also requested refund of monies for prepaid tolls that was not used. I have delivery confirmation of this package, and E-ZPass Delaware did close my account as requested. However they still have not yet returned unused prepaid funds for tolls. I wrote in again in early September and they still not have fulfilled my request or responded to my request. I have now waited about 60+ days for this refund.

I have been charged over $100 for a pay-by-plate violation that was initially $3 from 2022. I was never billed for the original amount. I followed the protocol, which is to fill out the form on the back of the invoice and mail it back, I also typed out a letter and included that with the dispute. I never received a response. I later traveled and incurred a $1 fee for toll, and again I was never sent an invoice until over $100 had been added in fees. The original issue from 2022 was never resolved, and now this is happening again. EZPass is failing to mail out notices, either purposely or by omission, and I am being charged for violations when I never have the opportunity to pay the initial violation. I contacted the attorney general for assistance with this matter and was deferred back to EZpass. As of yesterday, I also received a collections letter from an attorney. I have never had this issue with any other state that I traveled through. Other states also offer the opportunity to dispute your toll online. I am not understanding why I am having this issue.

Last summer I had work down state and was driving back and forth almost daily. There was an issue with my ezpass that I was unaware of and I was not notified about the issue for about 3-4 months after the first toll violation and I continued driving through ezpass not knowing there was an issue so my toll violations continued to pile up and by the time they notified me I was getting 8-10 violation letters in the mail daily, which they are trying to charge me $82 per violation when the toll is only $1. If they would have contacted me sooner I could have fixed the problem and got everything squared away but again, I did not know there was an issue. Now I probably have 40+ violations which is well over $3,000 for what should have costed me $40 + if there were no violations, and could have been avoided with communication. I’m not sure where to go from here but that is ridiculous and feels like a scam to me. Please contact me when able and hopefully you can point me in the right direction of how to go about handling this.

When driving through Delaware, with a valid, auto-replenishing I-PASS (the Illinois version of “EZPass”), we were hit with a $50.00 fee for not paying a toll (the toll was $4.00). I found this odd, given we have a transponder, and looked up our transactions, noticing that Delaware correctly deducted 2 tolls, but did not deduct for the first toll going through Delaware, thus sending us a $50.00 bill for a $4.00 toll. Thinking this was erroneous, we contacted the Delaware Department of Transportation (they essentially DONT answer their customer service line, so we sent an email to the customer service email). After a few exchanges, we pulled our I-PASS records showing we had an active account, with a positive balance at the time of the “missed” toll (which is odd, considering the transponder is Velcro’d to the window and didn’t move), we received a letter a few months later instructing just that the bill was now $100 for late/non-payment. This is irresponsible, negligent, and harassing behavior. They don’t respond to phone calls, and they clearly lack in common sense and decency. We would be very happy to pay the original toll of $4.00 - that’s what is owed, and for whatever reason, was not automatically collected. But to receive a bill over 20 times the original fine is asinine, and I would argue, criminal.

On May first 2023 I received a letter from DelDOT. Posted 26th of April, I open to receive an affidavit. The violation number is 0014506686-1 and is said to have happened on 04/05/23 00:34:19 lane 41 in Dover plaza. It appears to be a white Nissan or Buick I have a dark blue car. It appears in the blurry picture that they mistakingly took a F for an E on a Maryland plate. I try to go online because this was easily resolved when it previously happened in Michigan. I find out that they intend to make my buy a stamp check a box write a paragraph proving my innocence signed with the date and my phone number. (Or I can get EZ acc $$$ and dispute much more conveniently without giving up your only evidence.) It's Extortion! I am falsely accused and this is an unacceptable process. All I want is change. It says TO DISPUTE APPEAL all bold. Why are they trying to make me appeal an affidavit as if I'm already guilty. It's not ME It's not MY PLATE It's not MY CAR It's not ACCEPTABLE. I'm falsely accused. Should be easy to deal with with a phone call or an online for. I cannot believe that a computer glitch can be allowed to ruin lives. I am not happy.

I have just recently been billed from EZPass Delaware the following: 2/8/23 Toll $4.00 Total Fee $54.00 2/20/23 Toll $4.00 Total Fee $54.00 2/20/23 Toll $4.00 Total Fee $54.00. I have also been billed from EZPass Maryland for various tolls on the same dates. I have had this account for years and have a steady history of making payments whenever they email me about my balance. I have not received any emails from them for several months so I thought my account was good. I contacted them today bout these letters for toll payments. They won't do anything for me. They have locked me out of the online account because they said it was sent to collections. They said they sent me notices but they won't say the dates. I have no record of receiving any notices from them since August 2022. They won't let me look at my account either. They obviously have some error going on with their email system and their billing system.
