On June 30, 2022 McNeil’s Paving charged me $5,000.00 for the preparation and installation of a new driveway. My daughter (***** ***** ******) paid ****** ****** with her Discover Card. (Receipt attached. My check reimbursing her is also attached.) After they left we went to admire our new driveway, unfortunately noticing “all” the imperfections. His workers had walked on the blacktop leaving footprints, there were white stones, grass and sticks mixed in with the blacktop, the lines on both sides of the driveway were not straight and the blacktop was not rolled in several spots. I called Joshua that evening and I advised him of the issues. He did come back to try to fix the mess that he had created. However, his fix was to patch the places of the imperfections. This solution, a patch job, was not at all acceptable on a brand new $5000 driveway. The driveway looked awful. (Pictures attached.) He said not to worry that he would return to fix the driveway. Subsequently, it rained! Now not only was my driveway patched my driveway had “lakes” (Pictures attached) making it impossible to access my vehicle from both the driver’s side and passenger side. I called Joshua on July 6th to make him aware of this new issue. I was told by 2 other paving companies (estimates attached) that the driveway wasn’t prepared properly in regards to the pitch. I called him again on July 8th to ask when he would return to deal with all these issues. He assured that he would take of the problems when he was in the area. I offered to text him the pictures I had taken to help him identify the places that were flooded. He stated that he had come by and was aware of what had to be done. 30 days later he had not returned. I called again on (August 2nd) and was assured that he would be by when he was in the area to fix the driveway. 60 days 2 more phone calls and more promises. 90 days etc. End result, 5 months of phone calls (telephone logs attached) and promises to return which never happened. In addition, areas of the driveway have weeds growing through the blacktop because there is not enough blacktop in those spots and were the ground was not treated properly before laying the blacktop down. I made 2 additional queries (October 18th and 22nd) of his intention to return and fix the problems which have gone unanswered. He never returned my calls. I have also attached 2 estimates to have the driveway fixed/repaired/replaced. Some companies that I called didn’t want the job based on the extent of the job. (e.g. tearing up the new blacktop and starting all-over again.) I advised ****** ****** on October 22nd accordingly that at this juncture I would be seeking legal recourse for the less than professional job I received. $5,000.00 for a “patchwork driveway” that was supposed to be brand new is totally and completely unacceptable. It is truly a big disappointment along as an embarrassment to have it attached to my home which is only 5 years old. I have also provided statements from other customers who had the same thing done to them by McNeil Paving after paying thousands of dollars for a blacktop driveways. This was submitted to the Delaware Attorney General and the Department of Justice who state that they can't help me. I was told to contact you for your help. Please!
