Complete bathroom remodel for our master bath down to the studs, move plumbing, etc. Quotes received in fall 2020. First Contract 12/21/2020. We requested to end the contract and return monies paid by us in July 2021, he refused. Newer contracts requesting additional funds were received. Work began on 11/12/2021. Subcontractors walked off job on 2/24/2022. Owner walked off job on March 1, 2022. We sent a formal notice to end contract to owner on 3/23/2022. He had so many excuses and lied to us regularly. The job took too long to start and do. It still hasn't been completed, poor workmanship and unusable. The work consistently needed to be redone (electrical, plumbing, framing, putting up walls, etc.) from the get go. Owner wasn't aware as he was rarely on the job site and subcontractors (or anyone) did not have a blueprint. Owner physically failed to oversee and supervise his subcontractors. Electrical & plumbing work wasn't completed nor inspected. Little was done to protect our personal property thereby causing damage to our property....repeatedly. From our master bedroom closets, carpets, hardwood floors, grass, pavers, possibly even broke the main water line, a water nozzle, wrong size/usable items ordered and nonrefundable, chipped and scratched countertop, missing items, broken mirror, etc. Left trash and work site in horrid conditions. We requested liability insurance information; have yet to receive. Never received contractor & subcontractor licenses (or names), a building permit and the required inspections. We suspect he didn't pay his subcontractors had trouble hiring and keeping them as well as he may have spent our money on his new truck. I will upload some correspondence. We have hundreds of pictures, videos, audio, text messages and emails that I can provide if needed. I retired as a DoD teacher (overseas dependent military schools) in 2019. My spouse retired from DoD in 2019 and from the USMC (E9) in 2002 (after 25 years).
