I had a very good experience working with Kyle and his team from getting a very reasonable esitmate to completion of my new driveway within a week. They completely tore out my old driveway and repaved it within in one day. They arrived early the next business day to address a few minor issues I had and to finish cleaning up unused gravel. I would highly recommend Marshall Construction for any driveway replacement needs.

Damaged our property and refused responsibility Replaced asphalt driveway on same day they poured concrete walkway which caused stains and groves on the walkway Ran out of asphalt and had to return to patch it and patch the depressions Had to completely replace the driveway due to depressions Refused to repair concrete damage Worst customer service ever. His wife yelled at us, would not let us explain our position and threatened legal action because we refused final payment on their shoddy work and damage to our property. She was the rudest person we have ever dealt with. Would have given the less than one star if possible.m

We recognize from your attempt to mislead future customers with hate speech and slander on a public platform against our company, you are unhappy with your experience. So are we! It was a very unfortunate experience we all endured. We wanted to get the project started in a timely manner for you, so we subcontracted another paving company for your driveway since our paving equipment is currently in the shop. We have been very communicative, apologetic and accommodating throughout this project towards you and your husband. We stand by the integrity of our work and take accountability where due, we even discounted your final invoice for any inconvenience we caused. We agree with you that when the driveway was first laid, it was not to our own satisfaction either. As a result, and no hassle to you, we had the subcontractor tear out and replace the entire driveway the very next day and it came out beautifully! As for the concrete walkway, there is no issue with concrete and asphalt being done on the same day. It became an issue when pieces of asphalt fell into a small corner section of the concrete during the curing process. We offered to repair that area, but we received an email from your husband Mitch, refusing that offer this past Saturday. You and Mitch stated we would not receive the final invoice payment that was due because the work completed was not to your satisfaction. At this point, refusal of payment once the work is completed is a breach of the contract you signed, like any contract, we are liable to take legal action in that case. Once this was brought to your attention, we then received the discounted invoice payment along with your negative reviews on multiple websites. We hoped things would end much differently, but we thank you for your business and wish you all the best.

Extremely poor customer service. Took over a month to get work completed after being told several times that they would start next week. Poor follow thru on email and phone call returns. Poorly written estimate that was misleading in their favor to charge more for the job. Paved over the gas line shut off. Did not properly fix that issue. Left exposed wiring / cables coming out of the asphalt. Cut cable line and tried to blame it on the fact that it had not been marked. Then said it had been marked but that is was frozen. Have pictures of the cable line being marked. Piles of dirt left everywhere. Trash left on the property. Have pictures of poor workmanship. Had shown others the estimate and they agreed that the way it was written makes it easy for Marshall Construction " to bait and switch". Removed a buried downspout without my knowledge and was told it was the incorrect pipe after they laid the asphalt. Would have liked to have known that prior to them paving. Would not recommend at all.

We do appreciate the feedback as we take every instance like this as a chance to improve. We would like to take the opportunity to respond here. While we do regret the inconvenience that the rescheduling of your job has caused, we would like to emphasize on the fact that weather conditions and temperature makes a very big impact on the integrity and durability of the work performed. We would never put a customer in a position of starting a job, leaving it and having to return whenever weather and temperature conditions may subside. Our turn around time for a job like yours is typically 1 business day, sometimes 2 and we and in your case we also had holiday schedules to work around. We do not feel that our team fell short in any of our communication with you as we have several emails, phone calls and even text messages communicating with you promptly on any updates with scheduling and during the time the work was being done. It was until the final invoice was sent, then became overdue that we had not heard from you and there was no communication further from you on any repairs being needed. As for the cable wire, since the ground was hard, it did pull up large chunks of dirt while excavating and a cable wire did get snagged, as we assured you that we would have it accessible for the cable company to repair. These things can happen and as you stated, the utility company did come out to mark the wires but, in that area, it was not marked. We notified you right away about the wire and we also came back out to your home once the work was completed to also address your concern with the gas valve, the very next day. We sent you a picture of the gas valve being fixed, and you did not respond to our message. Marshall Construction is responsible only for the scope of work you accepted and signed for on your contract; the homeowner is responsible for making sure the area of work is clear from anything that could cause a disturbance in the durability and integrity of the work being done. You had a down spout that was not schedule 40 PVC and we are not specialized to replace any pipes that would have caused the asphalt to crack, as we had already spoken to you about in person. We provided the estimate, you accepted and signed the contract, and all work was completed.

For the communication from the company I was always the one who had to initiate anything about scheduling the work and the response was always "next week". For the cable not being marked properly it was as I have photos that the cable company had marked all lines. There was also another wire that was cut and I was not informed of it at all. I had mentioned on several emails and phone calls about exposed wires in the asphalt that needed to be taken care of. The job was not completed since the issues were not taken care of. You told us the cables were left out so that they could be repaired, but photos show none cut cables just sticking out of the asphalt. As for the gas valve, you did not come out the next day but it was several days later and the "repair" was not properly done according to DelMarva power ( we had an inspector out Jan 6th ) you said you had fixed it on Jan 3rd. As for the over due invoice, I was waiting for the job / repairs to be completed before final payment. On January 4th I received a threating email stating if not paid in full by Friday the 6th, you would be back on Monday the 9th to ripe it up and leave it as is. So for the safety of my family I paid the final invoice on a noncompleted / non repaired job. I reached out on Jan 5th concerning material questions and was told that Marshall Construction is no longer doing business with us and no further contact is needed. We had to have another company come out to properly fix the issues we had.

So disappointed and upset about the work we just had done. This business has poor communication and poor business ethics. After being unhappy with both the driveway and patio put in they proceeded to blame their mistakes on us. They refused to admit their mistakes and wanted to charge us more to fix them. We ended up negotiating down costs so we can pay someone else to fix it. Not to mention they tore up our lawn and only put down very little grass seed. Now that all is said and done they won’t even respond to emails telling us the materials used on the patio so we know how to move forward and fix it IF we can even fix it. 10/10 DONT recommend, do not waste your money. If I could post pictures here I would let the pictures do the rest of the talking.

Below is our response to the review explaining the situation at hand. **** and ***** ******** were given an estimate for a concrete patio and an asphalt driveway back in 2020 and at the time they were not ready to schedule because they were saving up and would be in touch when they were ready. Fast forward to May 2022, two years, and 30+ email and phone communication conversations later (multiple screen shots for proof on both personal and work phones), they signed our contract agreeing to all the of the work and measurements proposed on it without any hesitation or questions. Our team arrived ready to work efficiently with the integrity to provide full satisfaction to the ********'s project since we have built a professional relationship with them over the last 2 years. Immediately upon arrival, Ellyn decided she wanted to extend the patio measurements. Since we strive to EXCEED expectations and aim to go above and beyond, we extended the patio per Ellyn's request. After the asphalt driveway was paved and the concrete patio was poured (the concrete truck had been long gone at this point), the Bushbeck's then decided they wanted a concrete sidewalk/apron to be put at the end of their asphalt driveway when they contacted us the day after. This request was not included in any estimate, we never gave a price for it, it was never in our contract, nor was it ever mentioned prior to the work being started or even during it. In our contract are the exact measurements of the asphalt driveway and the exact measurements of the concrete patio ONLY. Ryan already admitted to us he did not pay close enough attention to the details of our contract before signing! He was home the entire time and monitoring all the work being done by our team. He was also asked to come outside multiple times to approve each step of the project insuring it was to his liking. During the patio design layout, we had Ryan approve the chalk lines where the design cuts will be made before we proceeded to execute the planned design. Halfway thru the process of cutting into the patio, Ryan stated he wanted to change the design layout. Therefore, we had to start over, layout a new design and re-snap all the remaining chalk lines. The chalk lines from the previous layout he approved stained the concrete and in result we used a concrete friendly cleaning product to remove the lines. While the concrete was drying and going thru its curing process later that day, ***** emailed us stating she liked the look of the wet concrete color on the patio and wanted to change her decision from standard concrete color with no dye (per our contract), to adding a color to the patio to make it have a darker/ wet look. ***** *** **** agreed to us sealing the patio to achieve the "wet look" they requested but unfortunately the sealer brought out the old chalk lines originally made. Marshall Construction guarantees customer satisfaction, and we settle for nothing less. We offered to remove the sealer to obtain the original concrete color and resolve the chalk line issue, we also provided a discounted quote on the sidewalk/apron they wanted in the driveway, but the ********'s declined both offers and decided to not pay their remaining invoice in full. We had completed the entire job without receiving any deposit based off of good faith, the professional relationship we had built with them and our dedication to customer satisfaction. Our team at Marshall Construction is extremely loyal and we work tirelessly 6-7 days a week, taking pride in our numerous years of experience and knowledge in the construction industry. We care about each and every one of our customers and in this situation, we did offer solutions to fulfill their expectations which they declined, along with their decision to keep $2,500 of the invoice owed and part ways. ~ Marshall Construction, LLC.
