Tru Contracting, Inc. entered a contractional agreement with me, ***** *****, signed July 27, 2022, to build a covered deck onto the back of my residence, and the company has failed to hold up to its obligations by obtaining and having the proper permit(s) and license(s), and completing this project in a timely manner. So far, a project that should have only taken six to eight weeks has stretched to nearly 11 months. We have paid a total of $25,775.00 of the $32,450.00 total price, that included materials and labor. However, the project remains unfinished. As of today’s date: Tru Contracting, Inc. has failed to properly secure a building permit for this deck project with the Town of Middletown. Tru Contracting, Inc. is not licensed in the State of Delaware. Tru Contracting Inc. also does not have a New Castle County contractor’s license . In the contract signed on July 27, 2022, Tru Contracting, Inc. stated they were licensed and insured. Based on the information we obtained from the town, county, and state, this is and was a false statement made to intentionally mislead me into believing that Tru Contracting, Inc. was properly licensed in New Castle County and the State of Delaware, and subsequently were legally operating in Delaware. A police report for Home Improvement Fraud has been filled with the Middletown Police Department (Delaware). Police complaint number 34-23-004280.

Tru Contracting completed drawings in consultation with ***** ***** in October and filed for the permit. Work began in Novemeber with a scehduled completion date of Dec 22.  ***** ***** began requesting changes to the now constructed structure requiring drawing revisions and new filings for permit. The town of Middletown was made aware and allowed construction to continue.  ******* ****** was the inspector that was working with Tru Contracting.  Tru Contracting was properly licensed.  ***** ***** made false statements in this complaint and to the police.  Officer ***** **** investigated and cleared Tru Contracting of any fault or error and dismissed all allegations.

The real delay was the result from ***** *****' mason walking off the job for reasons unknown to Tru Contracting.  This contractor was hired by ***** ***** and has no relationship with Tru Cntracting. The work left undone prevented Tru from proceeding to the finish phase in early December.  Tru offered to fill this void and ***** ***** agreed but information needed to acquire the stone (color/style/supplier) was incomplete. Tru was able to find a supplier in the Poconos and provided a price. Without a deposit, Tru made the four hour drive and delivered the product.  At this point, winter was still in full swing and it was inappropriate to install this product until temperatures remained above 40 degrees for several days.  ***** ***** was aware of all of this.  Suddenly and without cause ***** ***** declared he would not pay the agreed to price for the stone that was delivered.  Tru Contracting demobilized from the site and offered to return when the stone was complete.  Realizing his errror, ***** ***** asked Tru  to return.  This was done with siding materials next delivered and work was progressing when ***** ***** began making these false statements.  Tru Contracting has settled with ***** ***** resulting in payment to Tru Contracting for services rendered.  Tru Contracting wishes ***** ***** well but with now two contractors being unable to work with him, it is abundantly clear where the problem lies.
