  My 19 yr daughter went to the ER for acute onset SOB and chest pain yesterday 10/12/2024. After 7+ hrs had still not been seen by an advanced provider (MD, PA or NPA)...after 30 + yrs of myself as the father working in health both clinically and as administrative upon my arrival and finding her in a semi room not hooked up to any monitors or IV, decided to leave and bring her back home to NJ. She was seen last night in my local ER in the same amount of time with labs, chest xray, chest CT, EKG and IV fluids....to find out she has momo. ChristianaCare ER at their main campus sucks. I get it is a major hospital and sole level 1 trauma center in Delaware but still this is absolutely appalling in that after 7+ hrs Pt had yet to be seen by an MD even once back in the ER. Unless you are truly dead, stay away from here. Just sad.....

  A few weeks ago my Father almost died from needing a blood transfusion and he is still recovering his hemoglobin. It's taking time to heal. Now he has a not so nice some kind of bacterial infection. Today he waited for 14 hours to be seen at the ER. Due to his hemoglobin issue his Doctor sent him to the ER as they wanted to "protect him" and get him better care then they could do in her office. He sat in some inside triage area off the path for 12 hours after waiting 2 hours in the waiting area. No doctor ever even came to see him. I tried to get him attention for about 3.5 hours of that time He was never seen by someone. Its very sad that this happened because I always thought highly of Christiana until today. When we said we were leaving because he needed medical care they just said "sorry" and took the badge. No one ever offered him any food or anything until I said can we get him something to eat at least.. hey kid here's 4 packages of saltine crackers .. Would the care have been different if they knew he almost died a few weeks prior? did anyone even look at his chart ? Tonight I am awake worried for my Father who never got medical care. I understand being busy and I understand higher priority patients but that just seemed like negligence to me. Tomorrow he will be seeking care elsewhere. Need to get more organized Christiana do better.

  I was sitting in the waiting room, for 3 hours. I am pregnant and was in pain, they had me waiting for 3 hours in the waiting room, and I asked for some medicine and they would not give me any while I was in the waiting room, so they brought me back to a room, the nurse put me in a dirty room, and was not nice at all. I then proceeded to wait another 2 hours in the room ( still in pain ) I asked for medication and they did not come in. The nurses were completely stand offish and having side conversations instead of assisting patients. So after waiting a few more hours a nurse came in with Tylenol for me to take and I asked for the doctor, and she basically blew it off and was like you don’t want to take the medicine I said no and I want to leave. I want to speak with the doctor at this point to see what’s wrong with me. Her name was **** and she caught an attitude and walked out the room and said something smart under her breath. I asked if she can take off the ekg stuff off of me and she said “ am I suppose to do that” and I said yeah? And she snatched them off of me. I do not recommend this place, and to treat pregnant patients like that was not okay. Where’s the compassion? Where’s the empathy?

  I had an afternoon appointment at this place for phlebotomy. It was very nice and clean (elevator in good shape) I would recommend taking the stairs. A sign in sheet but you can make an appointment ahead of time and they will take you straight back. One paper to sign and put my insurance card on file!!! Leave the bandage and wrapping on for a couple hours or more

  The place is filthy, there was dry fecal matter in one of the chairs. That could be highly contagious!!! So look before you sit down!! I was getting ready to clean it up but I went to another room to get a chair. When I brought my sister home I told to throw every thing in the wash. Delaware has the worst health care system Ihave ever seen. The Cardiologist told my Dad that whatever he had he could live with. Took him to Penn in Philadelphia they found out what was wrong with my Dad, put a pacemaker in him and on a experimental medication not FDA approved. Mind you my Dad was in his mid 80's and they gave me more time with my Dad he past away at the age of 89. But they did not look at his gray hair or his age. When my Dad had fluid built up Christiana did nothing to remove it the way went in is the way he came out. My son went to pick up his Poppop and said Mom I can't fasten his pants.

  An absolute nightmare to deal with entry through the Emergency Room. Thirteen hours of a hall bed where demographic information, test results and doctor discussions are said openly within the hallway for all to hear. What a flagrant violation of patient privacy HIPAA laws! From a hall bed when the Emergency Department got even busier to what they call a Z bed. The Z bed consisted of over five hours in a public hallway on the fourth floor with no monitoring, facilities or care for a patient admitted with heart issues, To use a bathroom consisted of a 200 ft walk being held up by an attendant with a waist strap for a patient who could not walk on their own. The level of care provided was deplorable! Never again will Christiana Hospital be used. They should lose their license to operate!

  Was here for a MRI on 24may 2023 as a transfer from the VA hospital and I was put in the hallway waiting and when I pushed the call button for a nurse so that I can get pain medication I was ignored completely. And was treated rudely by the ER technicians. I even requested to see a psychiatrist and my request was ignored. I needed an MRI due to falling down a flight of stairs and was ignored the entire time I was there and when I told them that I was leaving they tried to make me sign paperwork when they never treated me at all. I refused to sign anything due to not getting any sort of treatment (no mri, pain medication, nothing at all). And I got there are pins 620pm and even until after 1030pm no pain medication or anything was given to me even tho I was clearly crying my eyes out from all the pain that I was in.
