The Company moved furniture and other belongs for me from Annandale Virginia to Aiken South Carolina on 10/7/23. During the process, the Company and its agents damaged several of my belongings and have refused to compensate me for all of the damages. They damaged a table which will cost at least $200 to repair and a ceramic tray that will cost approximately $150 to replace. I purchased their insurance so feel i should be compensated for the cost to repair or replace these items.Business response

Thank you for providing the complaint details from the customer. Bayshore strives to provide the most stress-free service as possible. This was an interstate move, therefore the Van Line was responsible for handling any claims process and did work closely with our in-house Claims Manager to guide the customer through the process. They provided details on pre-documents signed, including documents explaining items damaged if not packed by our professional packers. The Van Lines/Claims Dept investigated and responded items not packed by our packers were out of our control unless cartons were visibly damaged and notated as damaged upon receipt - no such notation on the documentation was presented/included - thus resulting in decline in claimed items as the customer did the packing of the claimed item.
I also read the information involving the table and due to the repair firm's determination and documentation during loading, the Van Line replied to the table's damage was pre-existing. We completely understand how overwhelming and stressful moving can be and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
We thank you for bringing this matter to our attention and allowing Bayshore the opportunity to evaluate this a final time to bring resolution or at least an explanation involving the decline in the claimed items.
Please confirm with the customer that she can reach out to our Claims Manager anytime to discuss the claim documents in more detail, etc. We're more than willing to discuss the findings etc. of the claimed items.Sincerely, Bayshore, agent for Allied Van Lines.

Better Business Bureau: I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my complaint and have determined that this does not resolve my issue. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.vide I understand the Company's policy on items that i packed myself and am willing to accept the Company's response on that matter although the box that the damaged goods arrived in was badly damaged but i did not notice the damage until long after the movers left due to the large number of boxes delivered (30+).However, while there was some very minor damage to the table in question before it was moved, the damaged pictured in my photo was not present when the movers picked up my goods for delivery. This damage was clearly sustained during the moving process and the moving company is clearly shirking their responsibility by failing to provide me with any reimbursement for the damage which they caused. I have already sent this piece out to be refinished as it has taken months to get this process resolved and i would like to be able to use my furniture again. The piece is being repaired at a cost of $200 and I think it is the moving company or their insurer's responsibility to pay for this cost. **In order for the bureau to continue to assist you, you MUST provide your view on the matter or your complaint will be closed as answered. Thank you for forwarding the customer's response. Since our last reply, we've asked our Claims Director to work with the Van Line Claims Dept in order to open the ticket and have further review on damage to the table - we feel it's worth asking for another review. Realizing the Claims Dept went off of understanding from other outside repair firms/sources that it was pre-existing damage; we've asked they reconsider and offer the $200.00 to this customer - I believe as of today it's been resolved, and customer should be contacted soon.
regards

Hello, Thank you for providing the customers inquiry regarding the claim on their previous 2022 relocation. We definitely strive to provide the best possible service to our customers. Therefore, when this was received, I immediately spoke with the Manager of the Dept and in turn have spoken with the Claims Adjuster at the Van Line level where the claim was processed/reviewed. They will reach out to the customer and discuss this interstate move in more detail.
Please let us know if you need anything further regarding this issue.
kind regards
