Dear Sir/Madam, I have a complaint regarding "Blinds To Go" from the Wilmington, Delaware store. I had placed an order for blinds back in December and the measurements given to them was accurate as per their professional person (******). Based on the initial measurement of Jan 6th, the total fixed price of the blinds was $1318. Then, ****** who had come home, said that increasing the height of the blind would not affect prices, at the most by $50. After the measurement, I got a call from the local Blinds to go store saying that the final price was now $1589 and it had jumped by $261 without my permission. On Jan 7th, I called the store and told them about this increase in price without the consumer's permission. They said that, they would adjust to the original price at the time of installation. I went to the store about 3 times from Jan 7 and each time I spoke to the design consultant (***** ********) about this issue with price, they said that it would be adjusted at the time of installation. Now, they are saying that I have to pay the additional $261 apart from the $659. I think this is price manipulation at the point of sale. I did go to their store on Monday, Feb 20th and Tuesday, Feb 21 and spoke to the store manager. Now, they gave me an 1-800 number for installation. I called them and explained in detail what had happened. They said that the store should be able to provide the item at the original sale price without charging the extra $261. However, when I told them about this, they want the additional $261 before they can send someone to install the blinds. Here is how Blinds to go advertise.. What to Expect during your appointment? The person coming in is "A highly trained Installation Specialist who will be ready to professionally measure & install. We’re ready to help and can’t wait to meet you! In reality, Blinds to Go resort to price manipulation by confusing the customer and charging exorbitant prices.

My wife and I visited the Everett showroom to look for blinds for our skylights on June 23. I had rough estimate for the skylight size and the saleswoman Gloria gave us a cost based on this rough estimate. Gl;oria also asked whether the skylight was high and I indicated that it was about 15 feet. She said that the installation may need the use of a high ladder and that she would include the cost of the ‘high-ladder installation’ in the estimate. We agreed to the price and asked BlindsToGo to proceed to take precise in-house measurements for the installation. The in-house measurement was done on June 26 after which BlindsToGo store manager Anne increased the cost by 20% indicating that (1) the skylight was 10% bigger than the rough estimate that I had provided to Gloria and (2) they needed the high-ladder for installation. I protested to Anne saying that Gloria had already included the cost of the high-ladder installation in the cost estimate. At this point I would have liked to cancel the order but Anne said they would take $50 of my deposit for performing the in-house measurement. I believe the BlindsToGo misled (‘low-balled’) us - they quoted a low price to get our deposit. Specifically, (1) the saleswoman Gloria did not warn us that the prices would increase if the rough skylight size estimate that I provided was not accurate, and (2) the manager Anne did not honor the saleswoman Gloria's price quote that included the cost of the high-ladder installation. When I asked to speak to a higher authority at the store, that person was ‘busy in a meeting’. Furthermore, Anne did not have the time to check with Gloria to verify my account of what transpired prior to my deposit payment. Surely, there must be a more ethical way of doing business. I complained via yelp and some online services. It seems like someone from the company generates automated responses saying they will look into the issue, but no follow up happens.
