We were Sallie Mae customers for the past two years. We switched because even with our excellent credit rating and timely interest payments they would only offer us an interest rate of 7.75%. I have been happy with College Avenue for the most part. My biggest complaint is transparency. Copies of contracts are hard to come by and the interest rates are not visible on record keeping pages. You can see how much you paid in interest, but not the rate. Also, recently we appealed to a college and needed to demonstrate how much we were paying for multiple children in college. We specifically needed a statement from August 2023. Of course we could download Jan-Jun of 2023 that was it. We couldn't download a statement after that until January of 2024. It has been easy to borrow money from them so no complaint there, however, with a perfect credit score I still don't see the lowest rates advertised in my offers. Crazy.Review from Gina T

I have had nothing but good experience with CA. I have had to reach out to them via phone for a few things in the past 3 years and the associates have always been helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that when it was time for my son to go to college we couldn't use College Avenue because they did not work with his college (a community college) so I had to go with a different lender. I would have much gathered stay at the same company!

My daughter took a loan out in 2018 for $9000 with a fixed interest rate, yet here we are 6 years later and she's paid consistently on the loan only to have a principal balance of $7300 still! They have charge her over $9000 in interest alone over the past 6 years! And they charge it WEEKLY, not monthly, but every week! She got into this with her dad as a co-signer and when he passed away, I became involved as I was handling his estate! This is a NIGHTMARE and I should know as I work for a company that deals in student loans! STAY AWAY IF YOU HAVE ANY COMMON SENSE!!!College Avenue Student Loans, LLC Response

A running list of complaints I have trying to refinance my student loans: -Was provided a quote through Get My Rate that was $400/month lower than the actual price, despite perfect credit and zero discrepancies in information provided -It took College Ave 34 days to provide a response to my application, requiring me to submit documents multiple times because they misplaced them -While College Ave decided to take their sweet time processing my application, the interest rate for their loans increased by 1% -I received zero emails from College Ave about the status of my loans during the process Because of this, I wrote to my union, the NEA, to stop recommending people use College Ave for their services. I am disappointed in their service and would not recommend anyone uses College Ave for any service they offer.
