******* ****** **** operates a used car business out of Queens, NY, but it is registered at 408b Meco Dr, Ste 24, Wilmington, DE 19804-1112 On January 12, 2021 Mr. **** sold a 2010 Subaru Forester to ***** *******. They met on the street in Queens, near the New York Hall of Science on the corner of 48th Ave & 111th St, Queens, NY. The Bill of Sale lists the odometer reading at 112,438 and a price of $3900. Andre asked Mr. **** for a photo of his driver's license and Mr. **** obliged. In the six months that Andre owned the car, he completed many repairs on his own. He used the car to commute to an internship before he planned to return home to Vancouver, Washington. Before leaving town, he sold his car to *** Thompson on June 30, 2011 for $6000. The odometer reading was 116,750. Sam's mechanic completed several repairs and diagnositic tests on the car (~$1800 worth of work). In October, the engine began to have problems. *** took the car to a local Subaru dealer, who was surprised by how old the engine looked. The dealer ran a Carfax report and discovered that the car's odometer had been rolled back 120,000 miles while in possession with Mr. ****. The car now has close to 240,000 miles on it and needs a new engine (~$7000). The car Mr. **** sold ****** ******* actually had 232,438 miles on it and was worth about half the price of what Mr. **** sold it to Andre. (~$2000) Sam called Mr. **** to discuss this concern and he said "it must have been someone else impersonating him." When *** revealed that he had a photo ID of Mr. ****, he stopped speaking and has since not returned any of ***'s phone calls. Sam's car is no longer operated safely and needs a new engine. We would like reimbursement from Mr. ****, who took advantage of young student, who then unknowingly took advantage of the next buyer. Mr. ******* is willing to provide testimony about his experience with Mr. ****.
