My mom and a friend stayed at Raney Guest Cottage recently. House was very poorly maintained. Toilet in the second bedroom literally rocked when I sat on it. The deadbolt lock on the front door was not correctly installed, and there was a gap even when locked. They could have kicked in the door. There was an even larger gap on the side porch door. The eyes on the stove either did not work at all or the element had to be removed and reinstalled to get it to work. Boards were "soft" on the front porch. Bricks were raised up in the walkway. All of this was bad enoguh but then, on their last night, while sitting on the swing, when the bolt in the roof on my side snapped, and the swing fell to the porch, injuring them both. They immediately texted the property manager, including pictures. The manager did not inquire if they were ok or offer any compensation (such as comping the stay). The guest cottage was not as advertised and they both still have bruises and are sore.
