I live in Lakeland Florida and have a mobile home with an older central air and heater system. Last winter the heater unit in it failed and I had Springer come out to look at it. With some difficulty they were able to find the part to order it. Since it was close to a $700 part and it is an older unit that might need replacing soon, I dedided to wait till this winter and see if the AC would last through the summer okay, which it did. I called Springer in October and left a message that I was ready to order the part. Springer called me back and left a message that their service or parts manager had ordered the part and it should be in in a couple of days. She said when it came in she would call me and we could schedule an appointment to have it installed. This was on November 3rd this year. After not hearing from them for over a month I called them in December and asked what was going on? All I got was that the part was in and they would come out and install it shortly, which they tried to do a couple of weeks ago. The technician came out, it was the wrong size part, said he would let Briant know and he would be back to me. He also left bolts on the AC unit and did not reassemble it fully. I never heard from Briant, it has now been two months. Going into winter i still don't have heat, I don't know if the part is available and this company does not do what they say they are or ever get back to me. When I called to day they tried to blame it on the pandemic, not even knowing if the part was even available. They have given terrible customer service, do not do what they say they will and left my unit with bolts on the unit and unassembled. They have not tried to call or keep me in the loop. If I don't call them it could be years before I would know what is going on. Meanwhile winter is here and I don't have any heat or know if the part is coming or if I need to get a new unit. Just terrible customer service and service from this company.

      Business response

Consumer Response /* (2000, 9, 2022/01/20) */ Springer came out yesterday and replaced the part that they have been saying they would for over two months now. It works fine, I finally have some heat in my mobile home and they replaced or used all the screws they had left on the AC Unit when they came out in December. It seemms all of this could have been done in November with just basic communication from them. Instead apparently the BBB report put some urgency to the matter. Being without heat when the temp's are dipping into the 30's you would think would be enough to make them want to do a better job with everything. So the unit is working fine and they did not mention anything about the BBB complaint, escept to make sure they called, emailed and texted the service time and day so there would be no miscommunication again. So I assume they did receive the complaint, just chose to not respond to either of us about it. I appreciate your help with this. Overall contractors and the service industry in Florida is very difficult to deal with Springer was just one example of dozens of these types of complaints or worse, I have had to deal with since moving to Florida. On serveral occasions I have contacted the Attorney General of Florida to lodge complaints. Contractors or service type businesses seem to be the worse. Simple courteous, prompt service and doing what you say you will would go a long way as well as good communicaiton for most of these companies. Thank you again for your help. I assume we can close this complaint now.
