I went to a doctor using ******* (military health insurance). The deductible on the insurance did not cover the visit in full, so i received a bill from Advanced Dermatology. I have reached out to VA ********* care, and they told me that they would cover the deductible. Both VA and I tried to contact Advanced Dermatology to settle the bill, but we couldn't reach anyone in the billing department (VA rep left them a voicemail with instructions to contact VA so they can settle the bill). I kept receiving payment notifications/overdue payment/threats to report me to collections. Eventually, after many attempts, I was able to reach someone in billing, I explained the situation to them, and provided instructions to call / bill VA. They told me they would take care of it, but i asked to continue communication via email. They then sent me an email saying ********* to backdate pre-authorization for the visit (which is btw illegal), and they can't bill VA without pre-authorization (which is not correct according to VA ********* care. They cover bill not covered by primary insurance). Then I went back and forth with them over emails/calls, explaining every time that this is not a regular VA *********** but ********* care, however, they always refused to bill them (i even provided the billing information for the VA), they just went in circles with me, and giving me a different rep each time, that refused to bill the VA. I even went to the doctor, who understood the situation and told me she would handle it, but again, the billing department refused to ***********. This went on for almost 3 months of agonizing calls and emails with billing who just wouldn't bill the VA. I gave up and paid the bill to avoid being reported to collections. I have all the email correspondence.
