On November 24th, 2023 Family Electric came to my house to repair undercabinet lights. While at my home, they told me I needed to replace my electrical panel because the busbar was failing. I initially agreed to the work that evening, but upon asking additional questions that evening I canceled the work on Saturday November 25th. During our discussion on Friday, the man here doing the work had informed me that I did not need to pull a permit to replace the electrical panel. Having replaced the electrical panel at a previous home in IL, this didnt seem correct. The man here doing the work called the owner, and the owner backpaddled and said that of course they would pull an emergency permit and perform the work on Sunday the 26Th. I did not have them come back and no work was performed on the electrical panel in the house. I communicated that weekend via text and email that I did not want to continue with the work and asked that the funds for the electrical panel be returned to my credit card. I emailed the company on both November 25th and November 27th, saying that I did not want to move forward with the work. I called the company multiple times the week of November 27th and communicated with *** about the refund. On Friday December 1st, *** informed me that he had processed the refund, and the funds would be returned to my credit card in 5-10 business days. I subsequently had different electricians out, ****** Electrical, came to the house on December 15th to check the panel and they informed me that nothing was wrong with the electrical panel, and it did not need to be replaced or repaired. They also properly fixed the undercabinet lights.Im happy to pay the $75 service fee that was quoted to me for the service call on Friday November 24th, but Im seeking a refund for the cost to replace the electrical panel ($3,070). I have called the company many times and have not been able to communicate with the business.Initial Complaint

Came to replace breaker boxes after a power surge knocked it out. They told us we needed 2 new boxes In garage and 3 outside. They initially charged $11,000 and then returned asking for another $2500. It appears only 1 box replaced inside and 1 outside. They took advantage of an 89 year old man with dementia who gave them his CC. The company is now not responding to our calls. We were clearly overcharged and the work is not complete. One of the garage boxes has no cover and the outdoor box is not attached sturdily to the wall.Initial Complaint

This company appears to prey on people, by instilling the fear of God in them regarding the issue you call them about, in order to manipulate you into having major/expensive/unnecessary work. In my case, I called them after seeing a flame come from my master bathroom outlet on 6/4/2022. On 6/5/2022, ******, the one who identifies himself as owner, and the two employees he sent to my home, continued to instill the fear of God in me by saying I was lucky my house did not burn down and that I needed to have my entire panel replaced. As a matter of fact, they recommended I needed to replace the exterior one as well, as replacing the interior alone was "like changing out just 2 tires on a car." In a complete Family Electric LLC induced state of panic/fear, I did what I never do. Agreed to go with the first company I called, accepted their price and prepaid for the job, before it was completed, as they required me to. ****** goes on and on about how his company "is a family owned business started by his grandfather" and mentions God a lot when he talks. He loves to hear himself talk and interrupts you as the customer, and even raises his tone at you, when questioned about his practices, prices, etc.I did not get the report or what they call their invoice, until the next day, after the job was completed. upon reading the report, and after I was coming out of my fear induced comatose state, I noticed false information on the report. I also noticed the work was not broken out, but rather the supposed initial amount with some supposed discounts, to arrive at the amount charged= $3,585! Four other electricians have advised us that the panel should not have been replaced. This should have been fixed with the outlet/its wiring being replaced. They said that even IF the panel needed to be replaced, the job should have cost between $800 and $2000, at most. These people are thieves. Their reviews are not from real clients. Please help us, the innocent consumers!
