I will add another very negative review of Synergy Insurance Affiliates. This is by far the worst experience I have ever had for medical insurance. I was directed to them by CA Covered as I am self employed. I set up the plan well over a month before it would need to become effective. I never received any information on the plan in the mail as I was told. I received a "welcome email" but I never received my official ID cards, or hard copy of my policy in mail. I could not log into the insurance websites. But they charged my credit card immediately. Now, two weeks after my policy should be in effect, and 6 weeks after starting this process, I have no policy and I am not even in the in the insurance agency's system. Emails bounce back and do not get answered, calls do not get returned. Same with text messages. I waited over 60 minutes on hold with no agent answering. When I finally got customer service on the line, they were unable to help me as they had no information and pushed me to yet another agent. I cannot recall a worse experience. Upon reviewing your case, we found that you contacted our agency on several occasions regarding your plan. On January 11th, our records show that you called in and were assisted with setting up your member portal, accessing your ID cards, and navigating the provider search tool. We also have records of your email on February 15th requesting contact, to which we promptly responded but did not receive a call back when we attempted to reach you. Furthermore, on February 23rd, you called our customer service team seeking more information about your plan, and you were once again informed about the full access you would have to your member portal once your policy became effective. On March 1st, you decided to cancel your policy but opted to keep two add-ons while we enrolled you in a more beneficial plan. We understand your frustration with the delay in receiving your policy documents and apologize for any miscommunication. We strive to provide excellent service to all our customers, and we are sorry we fell short of your expectations in this instance. On February 27th, 2024, I called Synergy Insurance Affiliates and requested a quote for ******** supplemental insurance. I spoke to ***************************, the agent, and was quoted $182.95 which was to start on April 1st. I was told I had to provide my debit card number just to have on file but was immediately charged. The next day, February 28th,2024, I called the agents "Direct line" and was transferred to customer service, which eventually disconnected. I called the second time on the same day, and no one answered, and he call was ended on their end. So, thinking they were closed I called the next day, February 29th, and the call was ended before it was answered. I called back immediately and got a recording informing me that I was not blocked. These three aforementioned calls were all made to the direct line given to me by the agent. He had told me to use this number anytime I needed help or had any questions or concerns. And now he blocked me. On the same day as the last calls, I contacted customer service and was told to leave a message, which I did. Now, having reviewed other customer complaints I am concerned that I am being scammed. I do not recommend this company foe anyone. I am leaving a one-star rating because this web page will not let me leave less. I would leave a negative star rating if I could.Synergy Insurance Affiliates LLC Response

The sales agent will request a card to be placed on file, which is standard practice in the insurance industry. This is to ensure that funds are available but is not a final charge unless you proceed with the policy. We understand the frustration of not being able to reach your agent promptly. Our customer service team is trained and works diligently to assist all our members with all questions but due to high call volumes, there may be a delay in response time. I was looking for gap health insurance before open enrollment. They are one of the first that pops up from the State of Maryland website. They are awful. They coerced me into tentatively signing up , even though they told me they required me to purchase a bundled package of services I didn't want. So I found a different company that .et my needs and called back and cancelled. They initially said I would get my refund in 3-4 business days. It's been 16 days. I called back, and now they say they aren't authorized to issue refund for the insurance company. They won't give me insurance company contact info or even a name. They said they will send email and I should expect to get response in 5-7 business days. In their own emails and snail mail correspondence, they guarantee a full refund within 30 days. The original agent who signed me up, flat out lied to me. And now I may not get 99$ of what I paid since they are calling it a one time fee.
