My condo in Fort Lauderdale was flooded when a unit directly above me leaked water through an ice cube supply feed. The owner did not shut off the main water valve (After leaving for several months) as per cooperative rules, and common sence. I then received a settlement for the damage and I thought I was all set! Little did I know the pain I was in for. I was notified by insurance company in Massachusetts that my insurance was going up because I filled a claim in florida. I told them I was not at fault. and called florida family.I dealt with an employee who was nasty at best. She told me she would need to go after unit owner because he would not respond back to them. Long story shorter the employee said the company would go after this person and a subrogation status would be taken care of. I received the following response in an email this past friday. Florida Family assigned your claim to an outside subrogation firm for additional recovery efforts. The were also unsuccessful and finally determined that suit is not recommended for your claim. This company does not want to do there jobs!!! Eddie ***** Mass Resident

Terrible! The dropped ** after years of paying their fees because of the agent and won't renew our policy because our house is older. Unbeliveable worst customer service in the world! Avoid them. Stay away!

Worst! Dropped our insurance had them for over 15 years we never filed a claim they even tripled the price dropped us in June. This has caused so much stress and money bc we had to get an inspection done to get new insurance more money! They should be fined!

Had a homeowners insurance policy with this company for 10 years. Always paid on time. Never even a phone call into their office, let alone a claim. They just cancelled me. Why? Who knows. They didn't even bother to contact me. Thanks for nothing.

We have now had Florida Family Insurance twice. The first time we obtained them they subsequently cancelled us "because the insured property was > 5 miles from the nearest fire station. Now they are not renewing our current policy because we have a perfectly operating 27 year old HVAC system which has been serviced annually but they "don't have data on HVAC systems > 25 years of age". I call this Insurance BLACKMAIL, even if I replace the system there is no guarantee will cover us at a reasonable price, if the system breaks and we file a claim for it (which we never intended due to its age and am willing to sign a waiver on the policy stating such) they will cancel us, so we're damned if we do or damned if we don't, no matter what once again the honest homeowner loses.

We only have homeowners insurance to protect us against catastrophic events such as hurricanes and historically have not and will not file claims for replacement of 27 year old HVAC systems.

Somehow it is wrong for any insurance company to mandate replacement of perfectly working home systems with threats of cancellation - there ought be laws against it!!!!!!!!!!

Florida Family Insurance should do a better job of checking out what they are insuring BEFORE they issue a policy and receive full payments from its customers - I hope this company goes out of business!

My experience couldn't have been better. I had the very knowledgeable adjuster assess my roof hail damage. He wrote up an insurance estimate that included a brand new roof plus new 6 inch gutters plus having to remove and reinstall my lanai brackets. I had a check for the entire amount within 3 days of the estimate. You just can't beat that. The adjuster was on my side since all of the covered expenses were covered in full. From my outstanding experience I would not hesitate to recommend Fl. Family Ins. In my mind they are absolutely 5 star.
