12-13-21 Get Coastal installed a new roof. They didn't finish the soffit and the roof leaks.

      Business response

      10/06/2023

Upon notification of the customer complaint, I immediately contacted the customer to better understand the issue from a roofing project that was completed at the end of December 2021.

As the new owner of Get Coastal Exteriors, **************** informed me that Get Coastal Exteriors did not complete his roofing project.  I then made arrangements to go up and see **************** later that morning to get a better understanding of the situation.  **************** outlined two major issues that he wants to have resolved.  1) Finish the soffit installation that was not completed at the time of his request.  2) Check for a potential leak in his roof

Regarding the first request, Soffit Installation: After investigation, we reviewed where the soffit installation started and ended, we found the following.  The original scope of work included 100 linear feet of soffit installation, and due to **** and Electric interfering with AC and Electrical lines, the crew as not able to finish up the remaining 27 feet.  I have pictures to review.  We are extremely sorry for any missed expectations or mis communication regarding his soffit installation.  Due to licensing and interference with of the **** system with the area where the soffit is to be installed, we were not able to complete the remaining 27 feet.

Second request of investigating a leak in the rear of the home.  We have **************** on a service list for a follow up diagnosis/service call to take care of his problem.

We are very sorry for any miscommunication or missed expectations for **************** regarding his soffit.  We are eager to service his issues and answer his complaints.  We are in the process of following up to schedule a service technician to come up and diagnose/repair his leak, as well as provide a refund for any soffit that was not installed.

This company installed a new roof on our home. We signed a contract in July 2021 and the roof was completed 9/02/2021. We have had two leaks. This company came out to fix the first leak yet they refuse to fix the second leak. We paid $24,000 cash for the roof.

We have been out several times and client doesn't understand it is not a roof leak. It is either their siding or AC. Client is very vulgar to staff and the crew and is simply impossible to deal with.

We replaced our flat roof and patio roof. The work was started 3 weeks late to begin with. We financed to have our flat roof and patio roof replaced 7/13/2022. The work completed left water to leak into our home in several places. Creating interior damage in 2 rooms of our home. The company has come out 5 times over a 5 week period of time after our new roof was installed to patch our brand new roof and we still are seeing new and exisiting water spots where water is still leaking. They also sent someone out to do the interior repairs who is clearly not qualified to do the repairs. While the man they sent was working we discovered black mold now growing on the drywall under the wood paneling. I stopped him from working and contacted a mold remediation company. I was given a quote and action plan to clean up the mold properly. I made a compliants to the project manager and the employee who came to do the repairs. I also filied a complaint with the finance company and was then contacted by the owners wife of the roofing company 8/17/2022. I explained the situation to her and told her I was willing to work with them to get the repairs done and see if they can resolve the issues. I sent her video and several photos of the work that was done and haven't heard from them on a resolution. I contacted the employee that has been here 5 times to patch the roof and I was told last Monday 8/22/2022. He responded he would go back to the office and let me know when he can come out to check the new leaks and again I have heard nothing. So I am left to resort to pursuing alternative options to get help! Please let m know if you have any questions. I can also provide more photos if needed.

This response was taken verbally by BBB:

We made several attempts to go back out there. When we sold the job the customer advised us she had pre-existing leaks. Mold wouldn't have occured if the leaks just began with our re-roof. There were some small leaks which we repaired and we agreed to replace the drywall but the customer will not allow us. We do not agree that the mold is our responsibility due to the pre-existing leaks.

Description of Complaint: On March 21st 2021 roofing work began on my home after I agreed to pay $12,749 to Get Coastal Exteriors (Palmetto), 1004 10th St W, Palmetto, FL 34221. This was to include a GAF Shingle Roof Install for $10,849.00 plus a Modified Birumen Flat Roof Install for $1,899.00. In the course of installing the GAF Shingle Roof Install, roofing materials were stored on the adjoining Flat Roof. As a result, the flat roof was compromised and must be taken down. An inspection of the flat roof damage by another company ******** ******* ) shows that the flat roof is over 20 feet and should have had some type of support. I have reached out to Get Coastal Exteriors by means of a letter on July28th 2021 and many emails, but they have not addressed my concerns. My complaint is that I am paying for a Flat Roof Install that destroyed the Flat Roof. Photos show that Get Goastal Exteriors used beams to prop up the flat roof before they left. Additionally I have the expense of rebuilding the lanai which was not in my budget.

It was not falling until the end of their project, after the heavy building materials had been stored on top of it for multiple days. The project will require that a contractor completely rebuild the lanai for a projected $6,000. Business Response /* (4000, 16, 2022/04/21) */ We have no contract with this client. Please provide a Get Coastal Exteriors Inc. Contract with this person's name on it. Thank you in advance. Business Response /* (4000, 19, 2022/08/31) */ Crew called while onsite Monday stating that the Elite Panel roof in the back had started to cave in. Trey and I went to the jobsite and found the elite panels were full of water and the weight was too heavy to hold the panels in place. We had the crew put 2x4's underneath the panels to hold them up in place so they would not completely fall into the lanai. Homeowner was aware the panels were full of water and stated that the panels had been leaking for a long time and he was hoping they would last a little longer. We reached out to Bishop Aluminum and Absolute Aluminum to see if we could get a quote for the homeowner to replace the panels. Both companies are 3-4 weeks out in estimates. Homeowner asked if we knew a GC who could do the work and could we possibly add the cost of the replacement to his financing contract. Mr. Pearson was going to look on the internet for a local GC who could come look at what needs to be done and get a quote, 3 GCE employees witnessed this conversation. Job was completed on 4-12-21. WATER, was the weight causing the elite panels to fail, NOT our material.
