I understand that you want me to remember the following text:"They are arrogant and argumentative. I presented my dog to them, showing symptoms of poisoning; I wanted to know the cause. They incorrectly claimed it was "Marijuana toxicity" based on symptoms alone. I was very straightforward with them when I explained how they were incorrect and that I would still like testing done to find the cause of my dog's distress. They argued more and claimed it was unnecessary; friends and family outside my control could have "tossed a ***** outside of a window, and your dog could have consumed it while on a walk [sic]." I again explained how this could not be the case, as there is no cannabis on my property, and gave them a straightforward explanation as to what I believe the cause may be: a wild plant on a large property. They claimed the symptoms were apparent, and there was no treatment for my dog, regardless of the testing outcome. I still wanted tests; they tried to discourage me, explaining the possibility of a "false negative.' That would be very convenient for them. I did as they advised, and although frustrated, I politely left......and immediately went to another clinic that could fulfill my dog's needs. They ran the tests we wanted and determined no THC was affecting my dog; The Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch LLC was boldly incorrect. When I published my experience on ******* they refused to acknowledge their malpractice. They then claimed I denied tests and diagnostics because of the price and that I was "offended." I went to them for tests, and they argued against it. Meanwhile, my dog can not stand or hold liquids. They claimed the price was an issue; it was never an issue. When a clinic argues with its patients, everyone suffers! ***** diagnoses and denial of treatment could result in dead family members. I am grateful and lucky to have my pup still wiggling his tail off every moment of the day."Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch LLC Response

Marijuana toxicity is a very common presenting problem at animal hospitals and it is usually easily treatable. When a pet presents with signs that align with this toxicity, most hospitals ask if there is a chance that the pet got into any. If the answer is yes, as long as the amount isn't extreme, the treatment is minimal. You informed us that there was marijuana in the house but that there was no way that your dog had access to it, and became defensive and offended at the question. We explained that although we know it would not be done on purpose, accidents happen and the smallest amount could cause clinical symptoms. We were very straightforward with you and explained that if it was something other than marijuana toxicity, we would need to do additional diagnostics to determine what else could be going on. We recommended a drug screen, but we explained that there was a possibility for a false negative due to the unknown time frame of possible ingestion and other factors. We presented you with an estimate for further diagnostics and testing after the drug screen, which you declined. We hope your pet is feeling better, and we apologize that your experience with us was less than satisfactory.Review from Candice M

I brought my dog in the evening as her stitches came loose and some stuff was protruding from the injury after getting spayed 4 days earlier at the rescue place where I adopted my dog. But as it was late, I ended up at this facility. Initially I got bombarded with all sorts of questions by this guy that spoke so fast and in a very assertive way.Questions like would you like us to perform CPR in case the surgery goes wrong, that would be $500-700? I was so overwhelmed! After waiting for a while, this lady calls me in and explains the situation and the cost that would be $5000-8000!OK, getting my dog spayed was $490. This is 10x more!! I understand this is an urgent care. BUT 10X MORE?!That lady proceeded that I could report the rescue place as my dog didn't have a cone or bandaid and sometimes they'll pay. So,I said I will keep my dog with the bandage she had around her waist and will go back first thing in the morning where she got spayed. Then this lady threatened me she will call animal services in case something happens to the dog. So, I was bullied into this expensive surgery.... I felt I had no choice! After the surgery I was told it was only tissue that was protruding from her stitches. I picked her up the next morning and they lost my leash. Called, said they would call me back, they didn't. My husband getting really upset with this unprofessionalism, decided to call... Few minutes later they found the leash! My husband decided to write a review to explain what we went through. The owner calls me to tell me after my husbands review (she might not like negative review, but as a business you need to accept customers feedback!) that I'm not welcome to come back with my dog at her facility! She also responded to my husbands review saying suddenly that intestines were protruding and the the dog was licking the injury as she didn't have a cone. My dog never licked or touched her injury! Don't say things you don't know. I'm with my dog all day and night!

Our hospital provided your pet with excellent care. Your pet was able to receive the emergency surgery she needed and saved her life. Your pet was not wearing an e-collar after being spayed. It is very unusual for the abdominal contents of an animal to come out without some sort of self trauma. Usually this is from the pet licking or biting at the incision. This is a problem we see when an e-collar is not worn. Your pet presented to our hospital with abdominal contents hanging out of the incision. This is a life threatening situation. If you presented to the emergency department with contents from your abdomen hanging out, they would not send you home with a belly wrap and tell you to see your doctor the next day. This is because this is a medical emergency. You were rude to our staff while your pet was at our hospital. Our calls are recorded and what was said to our staff was awful. Our staff does not deserve that verbal abuse. The cost of the surgery was very reasonable for the care your pet needed. We called in a surgeon in the middle of the night for your pet. Our prices are in-line and sometimes less than other emergency hospitals. We asked that you not return to our hospital because of the treatment of our staff while you were there, the treatment of our staff when you called for your leash (which we returned to you), the negative social media posts you made about us, and this review. Because we are an emergency hospital, we feel it's important that you know in advance that we would no longer accept you as a client. Our jobs are stressful and emotionally difficult. We deal with very sick pets all the time and this type of behavior is no longer acceptable.Customer Response

First of all, I never criticized the way you took care of my dog! You assumed the wound being licked and it wasn't life threatening at all according to the vet that did the procedure. The reason I had an attitude is because as females, you have have a perception of a male to be the villain since the question asked seemed odd or against a policy in place to make the surgery to happen in your "factory" fixing sick animals. A threat given to call animal services on our behalf if the surgery wasn't taking place. My wife was stressed , as a European she had no idea about how to go about this all thing since I was out of town. You made it sound like the dog was about to die and it wasn't the case. There is twenty one itemized items of which some are completely incomprehensible...explain "aerobic @ anaerobic culture ?????? A surgery on call ? is it a animal hospital ???? Yes I coped an attitude since your professional attitude was monetarily driven. Enough said...I aren't coming back and there is plenty ethical outfits out there willing to do a great job without pressuring people. As a business you have to take the good with the bad , and apparently a little sensitive when a negative opinion is provided . Get with it , it's a big world out there and your aren't it.Review from Carlos H

We arrived at the veterinarian at 1:40am and the contractions had started at 1:20am and it was 20 minutes away to get to the Veterinary Medical Center in LWR.They received her and informed us that they were going to give her a vaccine to help her expel them and that if the vaccine did not help her they would have to resort to cesarean section. They started with the pressure that if we did not pay the 800 that was the cost of the Vaccine, they could not get it until we paid.An hour later they returned with the news that the cesarean had to be performed and in the same way that as long as we did not pay the **** they could not begin to carry out the procedure and everything under pressure that we even told them that we would have to go home to make up the money since in At the time we didn't have it, we had the ****. They even made us apply for lines of credit so they could make sure of the collection more than making sure that they gave us the service of saving the lives of the puppies, including ******'s. We even confirmed that we had **** cash at the moment and they didn't care because their response was that we had to complete the **** for them to be able to start. Even when we told them that we had to go home to get the money, they told us that one should go and the other should stay. where they even made us feel discriminated againstThis didn't make us feel even worse because of the mistrust or as if we were going to abandon ****** along with the puppies while we knew that the lives of the puppies and ****** were at risk and we saw that time was passing and they did not care about the urgency and above all about ******'s life with the puppies. They obtained the **** and it was not until 5 in the morning that they began to perform the cesarean section on ****** and I received a call from them at 6:15 notifying me that the puppies according to them were born alive but died. when ****** was there urgently before 1:45am.Veterinary Medical Center at Lakewood Ranch LLC Response

We are very sorry Prada's two puppies did not make it. We have seen your reviews on social media, google, etc. We do not agree with your claims.
Payment for services is required up front due to the number of people that try to leave without paying. We are sorry that this is an inconvenience, but unfortunately it happens enough that we now must require for payment before services are rendered. We prefer for one person to stay behind, because when everyone leaves, we don't have anyone to authorize care while you are gone. We are not discriminating. This is our standard policy. One person should stay behind to authorize medical care and be available to speak to the veterinarian if needed. We think this is very reasonable.
It is not any businesses responsibility to pay for services for you. We are not government funded like human hospitals. We are a privately owned hospital that must pay our staff and our bills. When we have clients that don't have the financial means to pay for services, we offer two outside company financing options to help them. This is something we do to help - just like your dentist or doctor may do. This is not discrimination. This is how we help people pay for their pets care.
Your family knew Prada was pregnant, but you did not prepare in advance for her to have a c-section. Prada is a French Bulldog and this breed frequently requires a c-section to deliver the puppies. You waited 1 hour with a puppy hanging out of the vulva before bringing her to the ER. Once you arrived at the hospital, you declined immediate c-section and wanted to try oxytocin first due to costs. This put Prada's two puppies at risk. At your request, we gave oxytocin. Oxytocin is not a vaccine, but a medication that helps with uterine contractions. A delay in the c-section was not recommended. The puppy hanging out of the vulva was not likely to survive. Our goal was to save the one remaining puppy. The oxytocin did not work. Immediate c-section was recommended, and our surgeon was called. The puppy's heart rates had already started to drop.
We are sorry the two puppies did not make it. We are here to save animals. We want them all to live. That is why we are here in the middle of the night. We do everything in our power to save every pet. Sometimes even with the best care, some animals don't make it.
Even though you did not have enough money, we still placed an IV catheter, started IV fluids, began bloodwork, took an xray, performed an ultrasound, and started oxytocin. Breeding your pet takes a lot of vet visits and you must take immediate action when things go wrong. You must be prepared. What we were most upset about is that you declined to spay her during the c-section because you wanted to breed her again. This means you be faced with the same situation in the future when she requires a c-section once again.
