3 times tech was here to repair a washing machine, 3 times they said it was fine, 3 times the machine banged so hard off balance that the front panel of the machine came off. Never call them for a repair. Techs are lazy and incompetent.Review from Ron S

Set up an appointment with the warranty company for my dishwasher repair. The warranty company verified that Mel's Appliance accepted the appointment. Never received any appointment verification from Mel's, they never showed up, never called. Very unprofessional, high would not recommend this company to anyone. Customer Service is the worst, it is no wonder it has so many bad reviews. I will definitely let the warranty company know how things went.Review from kim m

This company deserves no stars! Like a fool we purchased an extended warranty with ****** for our front load/ top load $1650 ******* washing machine. Machine is 2.5 years old and the drum as well as bearings need to be replaced. Service call was placed 2/11/23 and ***'s came out 2/16/23. Tech told my husband what parts were needed and said he would order them. Never heard back from ***'s. I have left several messages as well as a text to the repair man who came to the house. I have called Assurant, the insurance company with a call center in Asia, so the English language is a problem, several times and have been told the parts were ordered. Well it is 3/21/23 and still no repair. Went last week to buy another washing machine but with no extended warranty, which we will never do again.Review from Steve H

1 month old GE front load washer wouldn't drain. GE sent this joker to diagnose. He said bad pump. That's the last that I heard from them. Currently on hold for GE consumer relations because the first person that I spoke with can't assign a different service company due to the fact that ***'s showed up once for about 5 minutes. This is totally unacceptable. They don't answer their phone calls, return calls, keep customers updated. Can I give a -5 star review. GE ***** just as bad for sending me these incompetent schmucks.disgustedReview from Rachell C.

This is the worst repair company I have ever had to deal with. My 1 year old GE refrigerator started leaking water and I called Assurant the warranty company to get it repaired. They assigned Mel's appliances to my claim. Their first available was 4 days out, the person arrived and made some unknown "adjustment" and said it was fixed. The next day it was leaking again. I called Mel's again and they put me on their schedule 5 days out this time. That day came and by 4:30 no one had shown up, so I called and got their voicemail and left a message. The next day someone called from Mel's stating that the repair guy came out and no one was home. This was a bold faced lie, I had a houseful of people that day and no one ever came. Of course at this point I was angry, I tried to request a different repair company through Assurant but they told me I had no choice but to work with Mel's due to the fact that they came out the first time. Makes no sense, but I went ahead and called Mel's again to reschedule for a third time. To my shock, the day came and went and they never showed up a second time! When called, you guessed it, Mel's said they had been out and rang the doorbell but no one answered. I then had my husband call and complain at Assurant and finally got a new company to come out. Meanwhile, I called GE direct to ask if there was such a thing as a "adjustment" that could have been made in the area of the fridge the was working on and was told this was not a thing. Beware, do not let this company anywhere near your appliances.

I was referred to this company from GE consumer relations after my new GE fridge stopped making ice and dispensing water. After a few wrong parts and GE telling me the parts were delayed, the correct part came and was installed today . Ice and water working now. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!! I am taking them to small claims court, we as a people need to unite together to stop the fraud and indifference!! It is WRONG what they're doing. I just checked with SunBiz to get their legal name for the civil suit, and turns out they don't even legally exist! They broke my appliances&take no responsibility. I can see on the web, various sites that I am far from being alone in my dismay! Last year they completely BROKE my dryer to the point it would not even turn on, and then told me I would be getting my money back from Assurion, however, they failed to do the final video call with the company. After speaking with Mels's and Assurion that I would be getting money to buy something new, after being without a dryer for nearly 2 months I ran to Famous Tate's and got a new one. However--Assurion then realized that Mel's failed to do the final video call to show my washer was not powering on, and troubleshoot--which the tech failed to do-- and so my warranty wasn't honored, and because I had them haul the old dryer away--I lost out! All staff including Mel himself were very defensive and blamed Assurion. NOW... my washer was having trouble balancing in the final spin/rinses cycle and displayed a UL code (unequal load). I constantly had to move clothes around and do small loads, but at least it worked. One part has been on back order since August 16th, nearly two months ago--so I asked both Assurion and Mel's if they could try the 2 out of 3 parts that were ordered. Someone at Mel's said YES. I double checked with the tech when he arrived, who said he did not think I even NEEDED the 3rd part on backorder --he was pretty sure the two parts he did have, would fix my issue. Now itt created a whole new problem! Now my washer doesn't work AT ALL! It fills to the top with water, and STOPS and freezes. I had to suck water out with a wet vac, leaving me with no washer. Mel's blamed me, and won't return my calls, and I can't do any wash. This is not right!Mel's Appliances Response

We did what you and your warranty ordered us to do which was to replace the parts that we had received only to pacify you. We always told you (that was our defense) that your washer will not work until the control board was replaced as well but you twisted our arms by raising complaints with Asurion. As an update of 10/10 your warranty company has not send us the control board. As for your dryer, after technician replaced the wiring harness as indicated by the Technical support from Asurion the dryer still did not work, we reported it to you warranty company. However on 2/25/22 As per customer statement she said her warranty company inform her that she was going to get reimbursed. Customer rushed and went to buy a new dryer and got rid of the old dryer, then Asurion tech line called us and said we had to go back and call tech line from customer home but we cant go back if the dryer is not physically there. cx is going to call the warranty company and will get back to us So please make a recollection of the facts because we have ours concretely notified with your insurance company. Remember we are here in the middle, we depend on your warranty as well. Again we told you several times and also your warranty that the washer will not work without the control board but you both insisted and really twisted our arm and here are the consequences which are not our fault, only self inflicted by you.Review from Paul K

DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE NEAR YOUR APPLIANCES - GE is trying to get them off their approved list because the constantly mis-diagnose problem and replace parts that are not broken. I have a 2 month old GE profile that was heating but not drying. Warranty Co sent Mel's out. The tech said it was the heating coil (which makes no sense at all, but I am not an appliance technician so what do I know). They came out and replaced it, an hour later the machine was running but the drum was not spinning, which is a new problem. I called Mel's and had to argue with the guy to get him to send the tech back out, which he finally did. The tech said the belt fell off and "fixed" it. Turned it on, it was running so he left. Less than 30 min later the machine was not running, so I looked at it, the timer was going but now not only was the drum not spinning, but the motor was not running either. I called Mel's, they said I need new belt arms and it's going to take 2 weeks. Called warranty co, they sent out an actually GE tech. Turns GE has been trying for months to get Mel's off their approved list because they are constantly mis-diagnosing issues and replacing parts that do not need replacing (can you say warranty fraud?) Turns out the Mel's tech put the dryer back together wrong and the machine burned through the belt and snapped it when it tried to run. Can't diagnose the actual problem until that is fixed, but the GE tech said based on what I explained there was nothing wrong with the heating coil.Review from Jess K

CONSUMER BEWARE!!! They have NO idea how to diagnose the issue, let alone fix it! They arrived a week after the call was issued, ordered two parts, came back a week later and my refrigerator still didn't work! They sent someone out 4 days later, he arrives without tools and tells us he will order the same part! I escalated a complaint with Asurian, and arranged for LG to come out. He replaced an ENTIRELY different part on the refrigerator and it is operational now. I would give Mel's Appliance zero stars.Mel's Appliances Response

The initial reason the fridge was not cooling was because the fan motor in the freezer compartment was not blowing the cold air. At this time the technician diagnosed and ordered the fan grille including the fan motor and the temperature sensor. If LG replaced another part is because it was also needed but at the time of the first visit this was the obvious problem presented by the fridge. In your case keep the starts to yourself.
