In August of 2019 we contracted with G. Fried Flooring America in Brandon to buy and have installed 1350 sq. ft of vinyl plank flooring for an invoice of approximately $12,000. Included in this invoice was a line item for 1350 sq. ft. installed polyguard (moisture barrier).. The importance of this moisture protection was highlighted in a customer prep memo which they gave to us . It reads as follows - "Although most of the floors tested do not need any additional protection, we do offer an added measure for safety. A vinyl moisture barrier can be installed under your wood or laminate ensuring that you WILL NOT ( their caps) have any moisture issues in the future. This barrier costs $1.50 per square foot installed." Here's the problem - WE NEVER GOT THE MOISTURE BARRIER, and the manager acknowledged the fact that we paid for something we didn't get. At the bare minimum we're looking at reimbursement to us of 1350 sq. ft at $1.50 per sq. ft or $2025. Unfortunately there's more to the story. As a result of a water pipe leak and some slab moisture issues our entire floor had to be ripped out. All of the planks had water stains on the bottom, and some even had mold. The water damage mitigation people we used couldn't believe the vinyl planks weren't protected by a moisture barrier which would have saved the planks. The manager, Mike *********, offered us a $4600 discount towards the purchase of a new floor. This was to reimburse us for the deductible we were responsible for from our insurance company. The problem is that he waited too long(over a week) to get back to us and since we were tired of walking on concrete, we committed with a deposit to another company. To sum up,we paid for something we didn't get. The company acknowledged this fact , and we suffered a loss and potential health issues due to mold because we didn't get the protection we paid for. We are requesting a reimbursement of the $4600 that the company acknowledges is their minimum liability.
