April 4th we took our dog into Care Animal Hospital to remove a suspicious cyst from her leg. As my husband and our dog waited by the entrance door to check in, she was viciously attacked by one of two large dogs. (the owner was checking in and let the leash extend from what I understand). The dog grabbed our dog by the back of her neck, physically lifting her from the ground and puncturing her cheek. My husband said he had to grab our dog's harness to pull our dog our of the other dog's mouth while kicking the other dog away. The staff at Care quickly came to remove the owner and the two dogs to one room and then took our dog and my husband to another room. They refused to give us the name of the other owner and dog (but said they are exemplary clients) and refused to allow us to see the video of what happened. They kept the owners separated after the incident, so there was no opportunity for my husband to even talk to the other owner. And although they decided to mediate the situation by having the other owner pay for antibiotics and they cleaned our dog's wound without charge, they are refusing to cooperate with Animal Control to what seems to appear to protect the other dog. We had to go back for our dog's follow-up from surgery and our dog was shaking unbelievably. The doctor never even came to see us today, even after this event. I was told Vets were mandatory reporters, so this does not make sense to me. Needless to say, we are looking for a safer vet environment where the staff care about all of the clients and not just the "exemplary" ones, however, if this dog bit our dog with such viciousness, it's likely they have bitten other dogs or people and we believe that the vet should cooperate with Animal Control so that they can objectively investigate the situation.
