  This business built the pool cage and screen lanai of our new home thru a contractor; they have repaired it in the past without any issues or concerns. After ********** experienced the most horrific storm, ***, we contacted Southern Aluminum to complete the necessary repairs. The owner **** came to our home and gave my husband a verbal estimate; stating a written one would follow. That date **** also stated they had a backlog of approximately 2 years of work and they were going to try to fit us in the schedule. He also mentioned the fact that he rather offer their employees extra work over the weekend than them finding jobs on the side. In addition, he went on to say, their employees were ,most likely, going to use the equipment, materials, and vehicle from Southern Aluminiun as part of weekend work. So, we did not think much of it. It is NOT the customer's resposibility nor our business how **** arranges his staff or schedules his workload. We called *********************************************** came to do the estimate & repaired the demages from ***, for which we never received a receipt for the work performed. Unfortunately, we run out of personal checks and gave the employees cash on site and asked them to leave a receipt in our mailbox since we were leaving on vacation that day. We had done business with them, so we trusted them. We had tried reaching out to him, his business, and all we want is a receipt for the work they performed so we can get reimbursed by our insurance company. Today, I visited his business and he insulted me, belittled me, and told me to contact the police, the ******************, and whomever I wanted He stated " this was a job on the side". He did NOT clearly stated such when he stopped by to give us an estimate. We always thought we were hiring Southern Aluminun for this job; it is irrelevant to the customer how he manages his employees and how this business operates to complete the workload. They now claim this was a "side/cash job". This is tax evasion and this business is robbing their community and reducing their taxable income; in addition, regardless of form of payment I chose OR THEY chose for me to paid them, all we are asking is for a RECEIPT for the work performed.

  Good afternoon and my apologies for the delay in responding to this complaint.  It is a busy time of year for us and I needed to take time to chat with the parties involved with communication with the Favino household so I knew how to respond to this complaint.

   

  We did indeed build and install the enclosure for the Favinos and have serviced it in the past.  After Hurricane *** destroyed a large portion of the enclosures in our area, we had to make the unfortunate decision that we could not service or repair any enclosure for an extended period of time.  While we wish that we could accommodate everyone and their repair needs, we simply do not have the manpower to do so and have to use most of our resources to service our contractors and their jobs.

  This was explained to the *************** when my business partner met him at their home.  We were not taking on any service work but, if they were willing to deal directly with our men, they might be able to have them work on their homes on the weekends as a side job to expedite their repair work.  Southern Aluminum would not be performing the service work.  Southern Aluminum did not give them a formal estimate and Southern Aluminum did not sent them an invoice or receive payment for work performed.  The homeowners paid our men, working off-the-clock for Southern Aluminum, so that they could have their repair done more quickly than Southern Aluminum would have been able to do this.  

  **************** was not present when we were at the home originally so, just like myself, she was given information from her husband that was present.  *************** was aware that Southern Aluminum was not doing the repair work and that they were not hiring Southern Aluminum to do the job.  They were hiring men to show up and repair their enclosure as quickly as they could.  

  From what I understand, the men who did the repair work returned to the Favino residence the day after she wrote this complaint and provided her a receipt for her job so she could turn it in to her insurance company.  We would appreciate it if she would confirm that this happened.  Also, we would appreciate that she desist in slandering our name and suggest that we are committing tax evasion and robbing our community.   I assure you, any monies that they paid to the men who did their repair did not make it to Southern Aluminum or its owners for any profit or gains.
