We contracted with D&M Building the Future to replace the garage ceiling, insulation, soffit replacement, pool cage screening and to sand and paint the pool cage for a total of $10,010, on or about 12/14/22. ****** required $5,000 up-front to start. We struggled with the thought of giving him so much money up front, and made other proposals which were rejected. After visiting a home D&M was renovating, seeing their work and talking to the home owner, we agreed to pay the $5,000 at which time ****** agreed to start on 12/19/22 to be finished by 12/23/22. After his crew worked about 10 hours in the first week, they stopped showing up and the excuses started. ****** truck broke down, his workers either quit, were sick or were not available. One day he sent his brother-in-law (***) who claimed that ****** refused to pay for the materials needed, so the *** quit, and on and on. Fast forward to a 12/30, we had a meeting with ****** and ***, where they agreed to finish their other job, then come to our house on 1/3 and continue daily until finishing by the end of that week. On 1/3/23, neither of them showed up, and again the excuses started. Numerous times we told ***** to finish painting the pool cage ($1,800 was his quote), and refund our $3,200. On 1/4, ****** texted that he and a worker would be here after 9. At almost 10:30, he texted that he had the materials to finish the job and would deliver them to us and we would be even. We wrote back, no way, return the materials to the store, and bring us $3,200 for work not completed, plus $200 for not finishing painting the pool cage, as we had to contract with someone else to finish the work. I just want my money back at this point, so I close this ugly chapter and pay someone who will actually do the work.
