I told my local Planet Fitness that I was moving out of state in 2 weeks and would be traveling all over the US. I was told it was the best time to join because there were no sign-up fees and only month to month payment with no contract and that I would easily be able to transfer gym to gym with their Black Card. After 2 weeks at the Casselberry FL location, I moved to Mammoth Lakes CA where there is no gym, for 1 month and of course, still paid because I knew my next location would be Salem OR with a PF gym there. I am in Salem for 2-3 months. 1st I find out that I can only train 10x per month and then I must transfer my membership (NO ONE told me that) and then I find out that I must pay my home gym for 3 months before I can transfer (NO ONE told me that either)... and now my only option is to CANCEL my FL membership AND REJOIN at the OR location. But obviously not as a Black Card since it really is NOT letting you train wherever & whenever you want. AND the FL location says they are billing me an annual fee'?? NONE of this makes sense and it's FALSE ADVERTISING. I got SCAMMED at the FL gym because CLEARLY... I only needed to pay the $15 (no contract monthly) for one month before cancelling. Instead they talked me into the Black Card and have collected $25x3 = $75 + $41 annual fee = $116 for the 2 weeks that I was in FL. SHAME ON YOU PLANET FITNESS!! This is REALLY A SHAME because I enjoyed working out in the gyms and wanted to continue a long relationship during my work travels. Too bad I was LIED to. I would have gladly paid $15 /month and just signed up & canceled at every gym. It only would have cost me $15 in FL for 1 month and then $15 in OR for this month... total of $30 vs $116.
