Hired him and his father after I purchased a 1950 house in the center of town. He initially appeared competent and able. We wrote up a payment schedule and a sort of contract...that was my first clue all is not as it appears. Looked loke a 5th grader wrote the contract. The work started and he showed with a roll of plastic to cover things. So far, so good. Turns out that only thing covered was part of my floor and it was never swept off or changed. The work was extensive, but nothing covered - the house was full of cement and sheetrock dust. The walls look like a new worker with no experience did it. Wiring was done wrong and the plumber that he hired did not complete the job. Some of my tools disappeared as he was leaving the key to my house (the work was extensive enough that we had to live in our Motorhome for 2 months) and work shed on site at night. He would not take responsibility. Assured me that regardless, any issues after he was paid would be followed up on. I have the texts requesting he come back to fix a squeaking toilet - no response. I would not hire him again - neither should you. As a follow-up, I hired a stove company to install a wood stove insert in my fireplace. I had hired Johnny to install a chimney pipe for the woodstove and recapp the old chimney. The wood stove people showed me that the chimney pipe was mostly old black stove pipe which cannot be used in a chimney and AC dust work which cannot be used for stove pipe. Plus the metal cap was placed over plywood - long story short, if I had used it for a wood stove, I would burn my house down! Johnny Martin Construction is a bunch of scam artists.
