I had my new patient hygiene appt in 5/20/22 covered at 100%. The front desk (**) said they would send a Pre-D for dental work and would contact me. I questioned the work because I just finished Invisalign with a different office and had retainers made. The ** called me weeks later to discuss the cost. I asked about the cost, per line. I used to work in a dental office so Im familiar with fees and dental work. They tried to charge me for anesthesia!!! Ive never seen that before in my life! They also slid in an extra $150 charge. I asked for my X-rays and they told me they had to wait for ins to pay. I asked for them to email me once they did and I never got them. Fast forward five months later, I got a call from the ** saying I had a balance of $23. She asked if I got the invoice, I said no. She read me an incorrect address so I told her the correct one (which was in my file). I asked what the $23 was for and she didnt know. She said she would look into it and we can discuss at my next cleaning in a month. I had my cleaning and went to check out. The woman tells me that I have a balance of $23 because the ins co. wouldnt cover the intraoral camera (IOCs) pictures for the Pre-D. I was floored that they were trying to bill the insurance company for this. Its like taking a cell phone pic of a tooth. I wasnt told Id be billed for this. Its extremely unethical and I also filed a complaint with my ins co. They told me they would investigate. Then (6/15/23) over a year later, I randomly get a text that I owe $23 from a recent visit and my first and only bill for $23 came on 6/20/23 for the visit in May 22. I pulled the *** which denied the charge of $114 and the office made an insurance adjustment of $91 but left a balance of $23 for some reason. I havent been back since Nov 22 will not be paying them the $23 because its a bogus charge. I hope someone audits their office and billing practices to the fullest.
