Reference # ********-142952876 Quote for service was $360.00. Paid half up front on 07/31/23, half at time of service, 08/17/23. Quote was to repair 2 fence gates. One was repaired satisfactorily, the other was not.I have made repeated calls, texts, and e-mails to get the company to come back out to fix/finish the job, and I am being ignored.I either would like prompt repairs done and the job completed, or a full refund at this point as it is now 5 months since they were initially out.

This is a complaint about Fence Company Near Me. I am totally shocked by DJ the Owner of Fence Company Near Me. He came in 2021 and replaced two wooden posts and did a great job. So why not rehire him? Well I will tell you why not to hire this man. I have pictures to back this up. After replacing three posts- screws were put in crooked. There were gaps between the boards and the posts . He broke 2 horizontal boards which caused the fence to bow out. He also asked me if he could use some of the bricks that I had and I said yes. I had no idea he was going to use the bricks to replace the concrete so I have concrete and Bricks to hold the posts. The contract clearly states concrete around the posts I assume he didn't bring enough concrete with him and that was why. He left holes clearly by the wood posts. He tried to cover it up with dirt and I told him we were not happy with the job and that he needed to either redo it or give us our money back . He would only give me $200. We paid him $801. to replace three posts. My 67-year-old boyfriend had to disassemble all the boards individually and replace those two boards that DJ broke. DJ took out an 8-ft section instead of unscrewing those boards individually. ** was just trying to rush the job. When it was reassembled part of the panel was not attached to the Post and it just flopped there. When I **** this to DJ's attention that it was loose he told me he never touched that part. Well it wasn't like that before DJ did this.

Below is the letter I sent back to ***** about her fence and the business we had together.

Id like to address a few things you mentioned and hope to explain why I did things the way it was done. When you addressed your concerns the first thing I offered was to come back and redo the repair to meet your satisfaction. I tried to make it right however you did not want that done and that is why a partial refund was offered instead. Just to be clear about the posts though, the posts were installed with concrete in compassing the posts in the ground up until 2 below ground level. Then we try to match what the landscape is surrounding the post. Hence one side is cement all the way up to match your pool deck and the other is dirt to allow grass to grow matching the landscape on that side of the post. The bricks I used went into the cement that surrounded the post to strengthen the support due to the size of the whole needed. This is not uncommon practice due to the cement and bricks cohesively forming the support needed. It is not as if the bricks were placed in the ground instead of the cement to hold the post. I agree with you that would be poor quality installation. You also mentioned that the fence was 20 years old. Keep in mind that when pulling a fence apart and repairing it with new and old material its hard to get it back together perfectly. Not everything will line up like a new install will. We put screws in at an angle to All our posts so they go into the center of the 4x4, better securing the panels to the post. This was done intentionally for better security especially as the panels I was re-attaching were 20 years old. I cannot control the gaps formed between the old panels and the new posts without repairing the panels as well which was not what you hired me for. The horizontal rails were not broken when I left however I did notice the cracks and splits that were clearly there before you stained them last as the stain was in between the cracks as well. This indicates it would have been appropriate to replace those as well however this is also not what you hired me for. I would have been glad to replace anything you requested if you had communicated this is what you would prefer and wanted to pay for that as well. Many of the concerns you had when we talked after the repair were regarding the old fencing I had nothing to do with. This job was far from a quick repair as the old posts required 3 hours and a $2K core drill to break up the old concrete and dig them up, alone. Total time for this job I have logged at 5 hours to replace 3 posts. Plus all the additional time required to gather materials, do initial visit and follow up. As far as the pictures you posted many of them are parts f the old fence I had nothing to do with. I take my jobs very serious and weve been awarded for our ivork with **** service awards and the are number one fence company in ***********. These were awards jiven to us for our service and we continue to live up to these awards and standards. Again I apologize 3bout your experience and Im sorry you wouldnt allow us to make things right.

I am rejecting this response because: I told DJ when he came out to show him all discrepancies that he either needed to do the job over or give me my money back. His reply was that was not going to happen. That's when he said he would only give me back $200.00. He had no intention of making it right. My boyfriend ********************* took the boards apart one by one. DJ took a whole 8 ft piece apart. After my boyfriend replaced the 2 horizontal boards and reattached everything to the posts everything fits perfectly. I told DJ if any boards need to be replaced replace them

      Sincerely,

      *************************

I was not done with my reply and accidentally pushed sent. So this is the rest of my reply. I am rejecting this response because I told DJ when he came out to show him all of the discrepancies that he either need to do the job over or give me my money back. I gave him a chance. His reply was that was not going to happen. That's when he said he would only give me back $200 he had no intentions of making it right. My boyfriend ********************* took the boards apart one by one like they should have been taken apart by DJ. After my boyfriend replaced the two horizontal boards everything matched perfectly he put the boards back one by one and now everything looks great. DJ took a whole 8 ft piece apart instead of bored by board. I explained to DJ when he came out to give me an estimate if any boards need replace them.

This was the letter I received back from DJ's office admitting he was in the wrong:

Good morning, *****. Thank you for taking the time to talk with me this morning. Ive attached the photo of the check that is in the mail on its way to you now. I want to apologize for your experience with our company. We strive to make the experience as best as possible, but sometimes we fall short of that, so again I apologize for that. My hope is we can resolve this issue by the end of the week. I look forward to hearing from you once the check is received so we can all move forward from this and we can continue to strive to do better. If you have any other concerns please dont hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you again, *****, and I hope you have a great day!

      My Best,
