Tom's Sod Service, Inc. Response
11/19/2021
- 1500 sq ft of St. Augustine Floratam sod @ $1.20 per sq ft = $1,800.00
- 1300 sq ft of additional Rip only @ $0.10 per sq ft = $130
- Total amount $1,930.00
Sod Installation:
- 8/26/2021 scheduled sod installation day.
- Crew Leader (Douglas M.) walked with customer once the initial sod installation was complete
- 8/31/2021 Customer (**************) called the Salesman (Anthony Q.) with concerns regarding the quality of sod.
- Salesman reassured the customer. Discussed Tom Sod's warranty process (wait at least 30 days for the sod to root). Now, the sod has been cut from the field so it is stressed. Customer seemed fine with the warranty process..
- 8/31/2021 Customer called after speaking with multiple competitors & others. She demanded that we fix the problem now. She did not want to wait through the warranty process.
- For the customer's satisfaction, Tom's Sod Service, Inc. skipped our normal protocol to accommodate her demands.
- 9/7/2021 Date of "Warranty" sod installation. Salesman agreed to take $130.00 charge off of the bill for customer having a Pest Control company spray and treat her yard twice.
- Early morning rain delayed job, but we were still able to complete "Warranty" job. Ripping out the previously installed sod and laying new sod.
- Because of the rain and the ripping out old sod, there was mud covering the driveway and street.
- One of our install crew members tried to spray the driveway down with the customer's hose. The customer said No, you cannot use my hose because I have to pay the water bill.
- 9/7/2021 Tom's Sod Service Manager (Chad S.) met with Salesman and Customer on site. Customer seemed to understand the grow in process. Chad S. told the Customer "We cannot clean your driveway without water. I hope it rains.".
- 9/8/2021 Charged Credit Card $1,800.00 not $1,930.00 as original proposal.
- 9/8/2021 Customer demanded we come back to clean the driveway after we had already gone on to our next job. We explained that we were unable to clean the driveway because she wouldn't allow us to use her hose. She then gave us permission to use her water hose. By this time, the dirt and mud had dried.
- 9/9/2021 One of the employees of Tom's Sod Service, Inc took a pressure washer and spent 5 hours cleaning the customer's driveway, the street and sidewalks.
- 9/13/2021 Customer still saying sod is poor quality 5 days after "Warranty" replacement. Sod can take up to 1 month to fully green up and grow in.
- 9/14/2021 One week after "Warranty"sod installation, Customer says Tom's Sod Service broke part of her irrigation system and demanded $125 credit. She said "You can take this off my bill". A simple fix to the irrigation system we can do, otherwise we will call a licensed irrigation company. Customer did not mention to us that we had broken the system until after she got it fixed and then she demanded a credit.
- As stated in our proposal, "Seller accepts no responsibility for underground lines, sprinkler heads, and pipe unless notified of exact location and marked by customer.
- 9/21/2021 Customer still says sod not looking good with pictures
- 9/23/2021 Customer says Tom's Sod Service ruined the grade of her yard. This was two (2) weeks after the "Warranty" install.
- Customer demanded a refund.
- 10/3/2021 Customer is demanding a full refund because she said the sod is dying.
- 10/8/2021 Customer does a chargeback of $1,800.00 on her credit card.
- 10/12/2021 Salesman went to customer's house and took pictures of her healthy yard.
Now, Tom's Sod Service has gone way above and beyond to try to satisfy this customer. The pictures of the yard show the sod is doing nicely.
A chargeback should not be allowed for this customer. Everything was done (twice) and done correctly.
