  I was told that the cost to install my already purchased trailer hitch and wiring for lights would be a flat $125 however when I brought the vehicle in and after the work was already done I was told that the cost was $245.I had a thorough conversation with the employee at the front desk of Rentz less than a week previous about cost, that I had my own hitch and lighting , what and why I needed it and the best time to come in as they refuse to take appointments which is a whole other issue on its own. After work was completed I was charged $245. I asked why and explained my previous conversation and was told there was a flat fee of $125 for installation of both the hitch and lighting unless it took 2 hours or more. No employee ever came to me during the process and told me they needed to charge me more. I was in the waiting room the entire time. I was told that because I purchased my own parts that I was being charged an extra $120 for the lights and it was an hour for lights and an hour for hitch. I then said but you finished in less than an hour and I was told before it was ************ of $125 he then changed his explanation to well its not really an hourly rate its more of a flat rate. This is shady business practice and I feel as though I was taken advantage of especially since nothing was said about the extra cost until after my car was completed. I cannot attest to wether or not the hitch and lights were installed correctly as my trailer is in another state and cant pick it up until Sunday however I do know that telling someone one price and then charging them double after the work is complete and they have no choice but to pay is shady and bad business practice. The employee changed his reasoning/explanation for the extra charge after I questioned him and I feel I was charged extra just because they felt they could. I would like my $120 refunded.

  Business response taken verbally by BBB:

  When a customer brings in a hitch to be installed we charge by the hour plus a $5 shop supply. This job took 2 hours so we charged for 2 hours of labor plus a $5 shop supply for a total of $245. The flat rate she mentions does not apply when you bring your own hitch.

  I am rejecting this response because: 

  The response is a total lie and completely opposite of what I was told by this business over the phone and in person. This job did not take 2 hours, it only took one hour and I had all my own equipment including lights. This business charged me extra because they thought they could take advantage and thats not the case. I was in the shop at 10 am and was out by 11 am per my receipt. Also the receipt I have does not state what is said in the business response.
