4/3/23 Started a request to have my taxes completed with Taxfyle (owned by Tickmark); Was charged $90. Was assigned to an accountant.4/5/23 Received a message saying that the original accountant would not be completing my taxes. Was assigned to a new accountant.4/8/23 at 10:36am Had not received tax return or any updates. Canceled the project and requested a refund in accordance with refund policy for jobs in progress. Taxfyles refund policy states, If you request a cancellation after your pro has picked up your engagement, communicated with you, and begun reviewing your documents (i.e. you and your pro are fully engaged in the discussion of your return), then a cancellation fee of 35% of your quote will apply. Notably, the entirety of my communication up to this point with the accountant was me sending a message asking if he had any questions and a response from him stating, Hi *****. No questions yet! on 4/7/23.4/8/23 at 12:15pm About two hours after I requested cancelation and refund according to refund policy, I received a notice that the status of my tax return had been changed to closed and that my taxes were completed. Taxfyle then charged me an additional $79.98 as though they had completed the return. I sent an email to Taxfyle asking for clarification and requesting the refund. Since my communications through the Taxfyle portal and by email on 4/8/23, I have emailed them two more times. I have received no response. Altogether, TaxFyle has charged me $169.98 altogether. According to their cancelation policy, they owe me a refund of $118.98, but they have refused to respond to my inquiries through the portal or to the email addresses ******************************* or ***********************************

I paid this company to do my 2020 Federal taxes. The tax pro the contracted with to do my taxes made an error and my return. I understand that I owe an extra amount to the IRS now, but according to their terms of service I am also entitled to get any penalty and interest paid by them and a refund of what I paid for them to do my taxes. They **** not refund anything and are not **** to meet or discuss anything. There are also numerous complaints about similar issues on their Google app reviews and internet reviews.

      Business response

      11/17/2021

Business Response /* (1000, 13, 2021/10/21) */ ***Document Attached*** ***** ****** had his tax return provided on April 5th 2021. He reviewed the return and signed the e-file authorization form. His pro filed the return on April 6th. ***** later received a notice from the IRS indicating that he received a rebate check in 2020 and the IRS requested additional taxes due. During the original engagement, ***** never indicated to the Pro that he received this income. The pro and ***** were reconnected after ***** received the notice. During communication with ***** and the Pro, he still denied ever actually receiving this income, resulting in a discrepancy between the information provided by him, and that indicated by the IRS notice. As a result, ***** demanded a refund for the work completed by the Pro, even though all forms were done and submitted accurately given the information provided. The issue lies with the IRS data and what ***** believes to be an error on their part. We do not deem a refund necessary considering no error on the side the the provider who completed the return. Consumer Response /* (3000, 15, 2021/10/22) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This is the exact problem. I do not disagree with the IRS. Their so called tax pro never asked for the income and used the default value in the form. He clearly did not read that my adjusted agi did not qualify me for that credit. If kind the error in 5 min. They made an error and **** not take any responsibility for it! Their reviews are terrible all over the web, they have doné this to many other customers as well!
