I take no pleasure in exposing faults. However, it would be wrong to keep my experience with AHP quiet any longer. In the first 9 months of my home build AHP failed 11 inspections with the county. AHP has only passed 4 out of 15 inspections. After constant errors and attempts by AHP to ignore, deliberately cover up, and try to "correct" erroneously over and again, I finally asked to be released from contract 13.5 months after we broke ground. Instead of release I have been dragged along by AHP for 4 more months, all the while still accruing interest, paying rent, dual utilities, third party inspectors and attorney fees. I asked to be released with what’s left of the remaining funds - to hire capable contractors to fix and finish my home. Instead, AHP filed a lien and threaten to sue me as well. I was a customer who sincerely tried to be patient with their constant staff changes amounting to 8 project manager transitions for the homes in my area in less than one year. I tried to be patient with AHP to correct the poor quality workmanship of their subcontractors. I tried to understand their project managers were spread too thin and rarely onsite and therefore did my best to help as eyes and ears on the ground. But there is a point where it is no longer understandable. They continually lie and deflect. They try to make me out to be picky, but I will leave it to you to decide: Is it picky to require framing to be done correctly? Housewrap and flashings to be placed correctly? Electrical, plumbing and HVAC to be placed correctly? These are required by inspectors. There are aesthetic items I have wanted done right, but this is not unusual for a customer building any home, especially a "custom" home. If I am picky, the people I know would be pickier, and the number of issues I have let slide in this regard far outnumber the aesthetic items that I asked to be corrected. I write this for other's protection. Hopefully it will save somebody else from experiencing the same.
