This company does deceptive advertising. They get lists of new homeowners from the clerk's office, then send out a "past due" bill to the home. When you contact them, they say that "the previous homeowner paid for a one-year termite protection, and we are giving you the opportunity to continue with that service". They continue to send you a 'bill' every month trying to get you to pay them, for no reason. After 7 months of receiving this 'bill', I finally called them and informed them that this was deceptive advertising, she hung up the phone. I reported this because I think that this could lead some homeowners, especially older people, to just pay the bill. I also informed the local sheriff's office.

Mrs. ******** purchased a home from a one of our customers. When a customer sells a home, we will change the name on the account to new homeowner or current homeowner. We then will send a welcome letter to introduce ourselves and let them know the home has a termite policy. Unfortunately, this sometimes is seen as junk mail and not read. If the customer does not respond they will get a renewal notice. If the customer still doesn't respond we will cancel the policy. If interested in keeping the coverage this could save the customer hundreds of dollars by not having to retreat the home. They just pay the renewal, and we will give them copy of the agreement with their name and current contact info. This also happens with preconstruction. The builder hires us to initially treat the home and by law we have to offer them the ability the renew the coverage up to 5 years minimum. A lot of times the builder does not pass on this information, and we have a similar situation. If Mrs. ******** would like to come by our office, I can show her the agreement that is signed by the original owner and go over the coverage if interested. I hope this clears things up and she can feel free to contact me with any questions.

We purchased our 22-year-old concrete home in February of 2022. It was not a new build and the previous homeowner passed away in July of 2021. The advertising material they sent us never stated that it was canceled, it never stated that it was for informational purposes. and after speaking to several members of our community, it appears that this is a normal practice for them. They go to the County Clerk's office and get a list of new homeowners in Citrus County. That is how one person in our community explained to us on how they get our information.

In response to their offer to stop by their office, perhaps they should state where their office is located instead of having a post office box?
That in itself shows you that they use deceptive advertising practices. I informed the county Sheriff's office last week after I contacted the company. They stated that they were going to contact them.
