I wish I could get power from somewhere else. They are a bunch of liars and is the biggest bunch of bull I have ever seen. Unfortunately been a customer for 24 years, not by choice. First it was the bills were increased so we need a higher deposit amount a several years back. Last month my son calls me that the power went off. I was around the corner and pulled into the street and a WREC truck is out front. I pull into house and guy gets out and confronts me about power bill being late. I am not gonna lie, I did forget and I will take responsibility for that. I thought I forgot January as well and here it is mid February and I am a month and a half behind. Not the case, January was paid and February was literally due on 8th and here it is on the 21st (13 days late) getting cut off. I can show transactions from their website to prove it. Guy was telling me I should have paid blue late notice in the mail which I still have not got. Lets not forget the 40 dollar reconnect fee on top. If I could depend on Solar I would cut them off completely. Not sure what the issue is but do not be more that a couple days late on your payment or then they will shut off your power just for an extra 40 dollar fee.

I appreciate what you are saying, and I am concerned with your frustrations. I have reviewed our records to ensure we got the history correct and I fully understand your problems. Our records reflect the bill for December was due on January 10 and that the December bill was paid on January 18th.
The Feb bill was mailed on Feb 16th and included both January and February invoiced amounts, with a reminder of the past due January bill. The January bill was due to be paid prior to Feb. 8th. We mailed a notice regarding the January bill on Feb. 10 and an automated phone call was placed on Feb 16th regarding the January bill. That was three reminders we had not received your January payment.
Having no response, we sent a collection truck to disconnect on February the 21st. Which is the day you referenced. The lineman had already disconnected when you arrived and our records reflect, he offered to waive the $40.00 reconnection fee if a trip fee of $25.00 was paid along with the January past due bill. You agreed and we considered the matter resolved.
I appreciate what you're saying and believe some of the problem is confusion over the timing of our invoicing. I believe you are not aware the bill you receive is for the previous month. As an example, we read your meter on approximately December 12th for the period Nov12 through December 12, we mailed it on the 15th of December with a due date of January 10. This gives almost 30 days to pay for services received in late November and early December.
I want to thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention and I am requesting that you help us in resolving any remaining issues you may have. I have requested one of our supervisors to expect the possibility of a call from you with questions, concerns or suggestions to prevent any future inconvenience and frustrations. You may reach ***************************** at extension 6211. Thank you again for bringing this to my attention.

Horrible company. Do not use. I've had wrec for about 3 years now and have been consistently bent over by them. I want to know how its legal to include my "Total due:" in my statement email, on the first page after selecting this address/account, two payment amount options (total and other, total being the same amount as mentioned) and offering me a nice big green Pay Now button under yet another "Total Due:" but if i click into the bill the total due is actually to the tune of 140$ more than the faux "Total". See i was confused because last year i was hit with a bill of almost a thousand dollars for being -MONTHS- late on about 300$. this confused me because i click total for the amount and the big green pay now button every month. Have i been late? sure i think everyone has in this day, but i still pay the total due, monthly... right? Not according to them. So that near thousand dollar bill ended up going to collections and THATS how i found out about it. Being from the south side of NY, i know a racket when i see one. This company is criminal. and im sure im not the only one being impacted. They have dropped my credit score, shut my power off unexpectedly, charged me what im now sure to be thousands of dollars more than was due. They get to make executive decisions on the price of a resource that you cant live without anymore, and they dont mind that the people who are most impacted by their trash behavior and policies are the ones who need this added stress the least. Disrespectfully, close your doors.Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc Response

I have reviewed this account. At no time was the consumer charged $1,000. An additional deposit was added to a late payment, plus fees for going to his home, which brought the total up to near $1,000. This individual has been a consumer since 11/20/2020, and without discussing his payment history in this forum, I invite him to call ***************************** and discuss the reasons for his additional deposits and the other complaints he has listed. I want to thank him for bringing this to my attention and I am sorry I cannot assist him in some way.Review from Tim S

The review is correct. Linemen are not electricians and for electrical advice a qualified electrician should be consulted.Review from Nicole L

They continually estimated the bill instead of reading the meter! (And the estimate was always higher- go figure.). CSR experiences were not pleasant. We moved to a new home and let them know we had a choice to pick them or Duke and are leaving due to the unethical business practices and overcharging. Their response: You dont have a choice- you have to use us! Incorrect, again. We have moved on with Duke and had zero issues.Review from Michael L

Your customer service led me to believe all customers in Citrus county would require an electrician inspection, and a permit release form from the county to have power restored after hurricane ****** took out our power. And gave me the county permitting offices number which was closed. Your representative refused to provide any information on when the power repairs would begin or even a remote timeframe on when the area would be addressed. We had no damage or water intrusion to our home or electrical system.Thankfully your in field lineman repaired our power and came to check on the house. When we spoke to them they had never heard of using a permit release after a storm. My family was freaking out trying to figure out how to get an electrician out as soon as possible and when the permitting office would open. Why would you describe a process you dont follow? And one that would be a huge burden for everyone in our county? Can you imagine thousands of people in the same county trying to get an electrician and permit through to restore their power at the same time? Why would you not be able to tell us any update for our own and our area in terms of power restoration? This misinformation adds tremendous uncertainty and unnecessary stress to a disaster situation!Review from george s

Horrible company Jason Fadd is a horrible man. I never received a bill and I sent in a billing error notice the proper way and my power was turn off the next day. But they credited my account cause Jason knew he F*ck up by violating the federal law. I was threatened by Jason Fadd that if I dont pay my "bill" Monday when I receive my investigation my power would be turned off. I never receive my investigation because it was sent to the wrong email, according to Brenna #2008. Ive ask multiple times for an original contract that I have with Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc. Since I extended my credit card (SSN, ID) per 15 USC 1602(l), this makes the transaction a consumer credit transaction per 15 USC 1602(i), which is governed by the Consumer Credit Protection Act, which Regulation Z of the C.F.R. enforces! As a result, that “statement” is a "deceptive form" and "false and misleading representation pursuant to 15 USC 1692j and 15 USC 1692e, respectively [ also see 17 CFR 240.14c-6] The deceptive form does not address the wo/man in the private but as the presumed Agent receiving service and authorized to act/serve sentence on behalf of the 11 USC 109 debtor - I am the Agent/Surety Last Name, First Name for the Principal FIRST NAME LAST NAME. ALL BILLS ARE PRE-PAID according to the UCC Uniform Commercial Code. I pray Mr. Fadd, Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc acts in good faith and stop scamming people of their credits due to them.Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc Response

Mr. *****, I have investigated your complaint and the numerous interactions you have had with our company since January 1 of this year. Given the circumstances of your interaction with our company, I believe you were treated appropriately. I know this is not the result or response you were seeking, but based upon my investigation, it appears to me we attempted in all cases to satisfy your questions and assist you with your problems.Review from William D

Worst electric company I have ever been with. **** was more accommodating when I lived in *******. I hope you don't mail checks, because my wife mailed ours out a little late due to just getting over an illness. We get home after 8pm to find our electric off. It's a week after the due date so my first assumption was that our side of the street was out (has happened before). I come to find out they came and shut off our power and even though they received our check in the mail literally a couple hours later, they sent NO ONE to turn it back on. I had to call the after hours guys to turn it back on (cost $100 for a $130 bill that was PAID). I call today and on top of that they wanted to charge me another $350 deposit. $450 for our check arriving 7 days late! We have been with this company for 15 years and never ONCE had our power cut. All they would do for me is wave the deposit. Still have to pay that ridiculous reconnect fee for something that SHOULD have been taken care of during business hours when they got my money. And what other choice do you have? It's either pay this one company that has zero competition in this area or live like it's ****... in *******. It's definitely time to invest in solar. I'd rather dump my money into unproven tech for a chance at breaking away from a local monopoly then give these people another cent.Review from Naomi C

I have never experienced such a crappy company in my life! Not even FPL or Duke puts its customers through the **** that this company does! They are criminals and they prey on the weak. They charge ridiculous amounts of fees for reasons that make no sense. I moved in and I paid no deposit. Late on light bill twice but never late enough where it got cut, just not on time. Now its time to switch service because I was moving and they charged me $340 to have the service changed to a new property because I was late paying my light bill twice! You have never had to cut my light off so why am I being penalized for being late a couple of times?! Then for some reason they keep saying I have a past bill for a certain amount when I have proof that I paid said amount! The light bill is always high no matter what and there is always hidden fees. Customer fees, membership fees, fees fees. This is a ghetto company that is built on greed. These people are criminals. I thought I was going to be able to escape them by moving to another location but I was told they own the area as well. When I move again I will make sure I do my due diligence to find out the electric company in the area first so I will not have to deal with them again! Not friendly, lots of unnecessary fees and s***** customer service. Clearly everyone is having the same experience and their poor reviews on ****** goes back as far as 8 years! That should tell you something. Before you move into an area do the research on the utilities company, itll save you money and stress.Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc Response

This individual is not a reflected as ever having an account with **. I suspect based upon her familiarity with the account, but do not know, this individual had the account in someone's name other than her own. If she'll have that individual call ***************************** at our office, we will discuss with that individual the account and the reasons for the deposit requirement.Review from Bruce K

worst company ever . It is terrible that you don't have a choice and have to use them. They refuse to hook up power to a new house. Because we will not allow them to tear up the yard and not be responsible for the damage. Work that should of been done months ago before house and yard was done . They are so horrible at there job that a house can be built quicker than they can set 1 pole . Very poorly run .Withlacoochee River Electric Cooperative, Inc Response

Mr. K is a builder as I understand it. Mr. K laid the sod prior to us running the permanent service to the house. Mr. K received the invoice for us to run the service on January 3rd, those fees have yet to be paid. During the construction period a temporary service is provided to allow for the workmen to utilize their tools. The removal of the temporary service and the installation of the permanent service requires a release from the Citrus County. That release was obtained on March 14. After receiving that release from the County, we are now able to run the permanent service.
