On Friday, 7/14/2023, the listed business was contracted to install a water heater and fix some minor leaking from a kitchen sink. The total cost for labor and supplies was approximately $2,000 and was paid in full upon work being finished on the same day. Two days later, Sunday 7/23/23/, a leak was discovered in the kitchen as water was seeping through the dry wall above the stove. Upon my inspection and after removing the now destroyed dry wall, I located the source of the leak. The leak came from a copper pipe/water line for a refrigerator as the plumber had opened the valve, not knowing what it was supplying. It should be noted there in no refrigerator near this line and that valve had been closed for the 8 years Ive lived in the home, to include just prior to the plumber doing their work. I contacted the company and they sent the same plumber out on Monday 7/17/23, for what I thought was going to be a damage appraisal. The plumber on site identified the source of the leak, admitted to opening the valve that caused the damage but stated, how was I supposed to know? He also informed me I had to contact the main office to seek restitution. Upon calling the office, they stated they were not going to fix the damage. I immediately ceased payment on the checks for the work not finished as I now have a hole in my kitchen ceiling from the negligence of the plumber. Id like for the damage to be fixed prior to rendering any further payment.

      Business response

      07/28/2023

We arrived at the ******* residence on July14, 2023 and was asked to replace 4 angle stops under the kitchen sink. That is what we did. On Sunday the customer called and wanted someone to come out on Tuesday because they discovered a leak. We sent the same technician that was at the residence originally back and then were told that we caused the leak. Gimler Plumbing did not cause a leak. If the customer knew a valve under the sink was off for a reason but didn't know the exact reason they should have mentioned that. We looked at the pipe in the wall and someone that previously that did work in this kitchen left a pipe not connected in the wall. We can't be responsible for negligence of a person that previously did plumbing in this kitchen incorrectly. We explained that the wall was not open and the customer or ********************** did not know that someone left a pipe in the wall not connected to anything or capped correctly. The previous person should have never connected the pipe to an angle stop and should have never left a pipe cut in a wall.

When we are asked to replace angle stops or valves that is what we do. Valves are sometime ceased, stuck, don't work at all or hard to turn. As I stated if the customer knew a valve was off for a reason they should have mentioned that. We were not asked to trouble shoot, we were just asked to replace them.
