So I was attending Cambridge college last and let me first say there communication *****... so I fall into some category troubles last year and I told them I wasn't able to attend on campus anymore being that I'm in **************** and they are in delay beach, and then send me for clinicals all the way in **********. After 2 weeks I finally got through to financial aid and she said I should check with the registrar to see if me dropping classes and only doing online would affect my grades, since I was already 5weeks in I think ?? with an online course so she checked and said no I could do that and updated it. Now I was transferred back to financial aid where she saw the update and said I'm good to go and that I would actually be owed and payed In December , December came I called they said they're still going over it so call back in a week (keep in mind I'm doing all the communication) I did when I call back the bursar said I'm not scheduled to be paid till April so I asked them why wasn't this communicated from when we first talk in October, anyway I told them I'm not going back because there communications ***** and I don't have patience for that, they still schedule me for classes and I called them to be removed!!! Keep in mind after this they were sending me links for me to start back in may no other communication which I ignored the links... why when I called in April they are saying owe them and not they owe me and I'm saying how?? When I ask multiple times if financial aide is covering the cost and was told yes and I would be owed. The bursar stated no one could give that information other than her and she didn't so I said yes I spoke with financial aid before actually asking financial aid if this is true or figure out what went wrong and why was I misinformed she's asking for payment.. they never ever once called or send an email stating I have a balance with them. Now they holding my transcript hostage and the law says otherwise.....

The VP of Student Finance reviewed the account and there was a calculation error in her September term that was caused because student dropped 15 credits in the middle of the term and 3 more credits were added after the dropped courses where processed. The ledger card has been corrected  and the student only owes $175.25. I have also reviewed all of her previous terms and tuition charges are correct. In regards to her comment the school is holding her transcript hostage and the law says otherwise .  As of 7/1/2024 the Federal regulation 34 CFR 668.14(b)(34) states that a the institution will provide an official transcript that includes all the credit or clock hours for payment periods In which the student received Title IV, HEA funds; and for which all institutional charges were paid or in an agreement to pay ( agreement to pay starts when student makes first payment) at the time the transcript request is made. So we can release her credits for her first two terms since at the end of her 1st academic year she owes zero. In her last term the student still has a balance of $175.25 so if the student can pay the full amount or get in a payment arrangement (with initial payment made) we can release credit for her September term.

If there are question on how Sept tuition was charged below is the math per our enrollment agreement

      LDA for the 3 dropped classes (15 credits) was 9/29/2023 Week 4 - $8055 (-$537x 15) X 75% = $6041.25
      Completed classes 6 credits $3222 (-$537 x 6)
      $6041.25+$3222 = $9263.25 September term tuition

if the student is satisfied with this response she will need to reach out to ***************************, the Regional Campus President at the campus for next steps on making the payment and receiving her transcripts.

I was enrolled at Cambridge during the pandemic. I began classes in early 2019. I was a student obtaining an associates degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. I was told numerous falsehoods about their admission process, rates of passing and certification pass rate, education/experience of instructors, clinical site placements, hands on skills/practice opportunities, fees due... etc... I have tried to put much of it behind me however it has negatively impacted my job searches as well as my ability to pursue employment post graduation. As a graduate of DMS program we are required to take and multiple certification tests.. In my time as a student these were not required upon completion of program. They are now. I took the physics class early on in my program. We were not encouraged to test at that time. The certification data for 2021 is now on their website and is reflective of the preparation and education we were provided for the classes involved during COVID. Nearly zero have passed. One of my clinical sites was to follow an EKG tech around. I never touched a probe through that clinical rotation. We went virtual during Covid where we used modules vs actual ultrasound machines. My final clinical rotation was at a cardiology clinic and the sonographer training me had just graduated. By the end the clinic hired me as I finished school and I was the one actually training students with my minimal knowledge at that time.We are told they help with post graduation placement however this was never offered to me. I have a job in my field that I sought out on my own but not being properly educated (though being passed with good grades) I am unable to pass the necessary certifications to keep a position. The school had zero input for me through this process. I am over 2 years out without being able to obtain my registries and now they are required. They can not explain the bill I received saying aid was not covered and are holding my transcripts and diploma

This student started the program in 2019 and graduated in 2021. This student was delayed a semester due to COVID and the Pandemic.  The student did graduate and the student was placed in the field. The admissions process was very clear based on the enrollment agreement and the catalog. the student did sign that agreement and acknowledged all of the other requirements to attend the college. The students were asked to go to online learning do to COVID and the Pandemic. Based on that required changed from our state and accreditor,  all of the instructors were qualified based on our institutional accreditor as well as our programmatic accreditor to teach online or in residence. The student did have an equitable education based on the items he is stating he did not.

A family member did go to the Department of Education and try to get a forbearance on his education.  We have submitted paperwork to the *** regarding the information that was set out in the information provided by the family member. To date we have not heard back from the ***.

Any student that graduates from our programs can come back at anytime to refresh and work with a program **** to prepare for registries exams or time in our DMS labs.

I will check on the status of his transcript and degree and will respond back again tomorrow.

I believe this is the best account of the students education.

      Complaint: 21428593

I am rejecting this response because: these are false claims.

I did in fact graduate as stated and I believe the registry pass rate for my program dates shows we had an inadequate education.  I was NOT placed anywhere post graduation by Cambridge. I started working as front desk clerical and only upon someone leaving was I able to occasionally do a scan!   There was zero help from Cambridge with the actual sonography portion of my jobs! In fact the clerical job paid me ***** an hour so if thats my placed in the field by Cambridge standards then that alone is proof they did me a disservice!

I have left multiple messages requesting ********************** call me as the numbers from the bursars office do not align,

There is no way I should have a bill at the end and not been notified throughout the funds werent met by financial aid when Cambridge is the one requesting the exact funds needed. I am being charged for a graduation ceremony I never attended as it was so far from my graduating date that it made zero sense to attend.

I have called and asked several times if I could get a remedial physics class/test prep/ANY help and was told unless I was enrolled I could not take any classes. This the absolute first Ive heard that any student can get help post graduation. Its a direct contradiction to what I was told!

My mother had been in contact with federal student aid in regards to her parent plus loans as there were many ways we were mislead about the program.
I cant even access my loans as apparently Cambridge  still has me listed under my maiden name, my ss number no longer matches my name I was enrolled as. I provided my marriage license when I get married again, but have had no help from Cambridge to even guide me on how to handle the loans because it states my names do not match!

This has been so much more difficult than it should be for such an expensive education. I made good grades,  and asked for additional help during and post graduation. Im not sure if other classes lacked but definitely mine during covid did! With us not scanning the required hours, (possibly met hours by doing modules online) taking classes unexpectedly online, language barriers with online instructors, instructors who were fairly new techs themselves etc I understand you may feel I had an equitable education but I am the student who passed with great grades and was still left without resources from Cambridge to maintain or obtain required certifications. These certifications are NOW a mandatory part of the curriculum Cambridge failed me.

During my pre enrollment interview with **** of students I was led to believe it was a very competitive program with pressure to enroll right away.  I was told there were placements at top tier facilities for clinicals, that teachers had many years of not only clinical but educational/teaching experience. That we had full use of the state of the art sonography lab.. perhaps all this is true however it definitely wasnt for my class during Covid. I realize online was the viable last minute option however, it was no substitute for truly having the hands in scanning experience promised when I applied. The clinical sites were not at times not even  to sonography in my case.

I just want to pass my registries, have acknowledgment that my class was left out to dry without resource (possibly related to Covid) and hope the program has since become everything it promised me it would be.

I feel I am out ********* with loans that I cant even match up to my social security number, inability to pass required registries (despite graduating with great grades), I get Covid was tough but as I stated we never should have been graduated without the required skill set excel in our fields.

I am not saying every aspect of Cambridge was horrible but it was NOTHING I was led to believe it would be and Im the one left  paying the price for a subpar educational experience as evidenced by test pass rates and students in the field from my class!

      Sincerely,

Thanks for looking further into this.  I can only state facts based on my experience with the knowledge that covid made it hard for the school. However, Im one of the ones who completed the program gram without the necessary knowledge base, still have my diploma held despite not being told there was a balance well after the semester it was supposedly due. I didnt ask for x amount, Cambridge did, was I charged more for less hands on time and expended time at school because they changed the program? Why am I being charged for graduation etc? Why was the bill a surprise post graduation?

Ive attached my ledger as well as the program outcome thats posted on the Cambridge website for the period I attended! How are those overall score reflective of a ********* education with zero support on placement, certifications etc I cant even get anyone to return my call regarding my transcripts!

I had a 3.23 gpa! Requested additional help, spent over ******* post graduation for supplemental education to try to pass the spi, I had no follow up post graduation or placement help!

Hopefully the documents provided help you see the disconnect hereeen graduating and program outcomes for my time there.

We have not come to any resolution at this point.  We are working on it but nothing has been set up.  I understand it can't be indefinite but she requested another week to sort things out her end.  Can it remain open in case they do not live up to any resolutions?  Even if they can work out a few issues on their end how can I proceed with letting others know of the types of issues I encountered?

I Attend the ******* campus and join the Radiology tech program in January of 2023. I have been a student here for almost a year now, and there has been very poor communication and a rotation of staff in and out of the school. The majority of my classmates' sites were far, so we did ask to switch, but we were told no. At clinic i did doze off while sitting for a while, and my CI at the site asked me did i wanted to go home, and i said no and apologized and explained it won't happen again. About 30 minutes later my CI told me I had to leave, I asked "why", and her response was " I'm not going to argue with you" so I left. I spoke to the director at Resurgence over the phone and explained what happened, and she told me she usually writes students up for that type of behavior, but she was not going to write to me. I received another phone call shortly after where she asked me about my commute time, and I expressed it was about an hour and ************************** Decatur. The director told me I was not telling the truth, as she comes that way all the time. I did explain that I was quite familiar with the area because my aunt lives out there, but I didn't feel comfortable in the area due to my previous experiences with discrimination. When I explained this, I was immediately banned from all Resurgence for 6 months. My program director informed me that there was nothing they could do and unfortunately, I forfeited my cite and must sit out a semester, ensuring me future placements. I did reach out to the site complaint line, hoping to speak to someone about getting the six months dropped, but instead it turned to never returning indefinitely. My school then told me I could not continue the program anymore as I would not be a "priority" for placement. I don't believe the school tried to keep me at all, fearing being dropped by Resurgence. The handbook says you could get 15 demerits for sleeping at clinic, not dismissal. I am a great student and get awesome grades.

      Business response

      01/02/2024

Attached is the email thread from ****************, the program **** with regard to ***************, here is a summary of what happened below:

-Cala acknowledges that she was caught sleeping during her clinicals.  As a result the site sent the student home.
-The site supervisor did reach out to Cala and asked about her commute, because the student was also late arriving to the clinical site.
-**** felt that the site supervisor electing to send her home and contacting her regarding her commute constituted discrimination and she filed a complaint with Resurgences HR department.
-Resurgences investigation found no negligence on their part.
-Resurgence was originally going to allow **** to return in 6 months to complete the clinical rotation, but since Cala lodged a discrimination complaint with no merit, the site decided not to allow **** to return indefinitely.
-**************** and I met with **** and she is refusing to take accountability for her tardiness and sleeping while on site.

below are the email notifications between the program **** and Cala

      Hi **************,
Here at Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology, we desire only the greatest of success for all of our students.  This action plan details the accounts that led up to your dismissal from Clinic II site Resurgens *******, GA.  While we are still awaiting the final details of your case from Resurgens, further incidents such as these will result in IMMEDIATE DISMISSAL from the *** Program.
In the interest of assisting you in achieving your goals for the future successfully,we would like to offer you the following plan to help you to achieve them.  This document serves as your CLINICAL WARNING. If you have any questions whatsoever, please contact me and/or your Program Director immediately.  If you need further help, feel free to contact me directly via phone or email.  We wish you only the best of luck in your newly chosen career and this plan should help you arrive there!
      1.Incident and Immediate Responses:
On September 5th, 2023, *************** encountered an issue at her clinical site, leading to her contacting **************,****************, and *****************. ****************, as a result of **** being dismissed from clinic informed the Registrar to ************* from Calas schedule during drop/add.  **** was not charged and did not fail clinic.  **** was informed that the clinical dismissal was beyond our control because we are guests at the clinical sites and the subsequent dismissal was a result of her actions. **** was advised to speak with **************** to see if she could be placed in the 2nd 7.5 weeks of the semester. ****************, during a phone conversation, informed **** that her actions were unprofessional (falling asleep on site) and placement at another site was not a priority. **************** also provided **************** with information regarding Calas statement the morning that the incident occurred that it was ridiculous that students were required to drive so far for clinic.  As a result, **** was emailed a copy of her signed clinical agreement and her Hello sign enrollment documentation in which she agreed to externship distance and transportation parameters 100 miles/1-way from Cambridge, practices regarding placement after removal from clinic stating you are not guaranteed reassignment, etc. Please Note: We were made aware that you continued to call ************** after she requested that you stop calling (resulting in her blocking your number).  Your response to her blocking your number was to email her.  This is aggressive and unprofessional behavior that will not be tolerated.

      2.Escalation and Lack of Resolution:
**** contacted *****************, the ****, who redirected her to ************, the executive director. Despite attempts to contact ************, including a direct email, **** received no response. Feeling unresolved, she eventually contacted Resurgens, aiming to appeal the six-month ban imposed on her.  (It was explained to Cala that ************ was no longer with the college and the student body received an email from **************** stated that he was the *** for student matters).  ************** did not contact *****************

      3.Accountability and Career Commitment:
**** acknowledged her mistake of falling asleep at the clinic and accepted responsibility, emphasizing her seriousness about her education and career in radiography. She clarified that her comments about the area's history (Cumming and racial discrimination) were not intended to be offensive or disrespectful towards Resurgens.  While she states this, she still mentioned in her complaint to Resurgens that she feels like she is being picked on and this incident has caused her education to be pushed back.

4.Plan of Action:  As previously stated by the program ************************** is behind one semester for clinicals.  The six- month suspension from Resurgens is still in effect (the Case is still ongoing with Resurgens HR and the school is still awaiting the final details).  As a result of these developments concerning your clinical rotation at Resurgens locations and after careful consideration of the events and communications that have transpired, it is important to convey the implications of the current situation.

As you are aware, your access to Resurgens sites has been suspended for a period of six months. This decision, stemming from the incident at your clinical site and subsequent interactions, has a significant impact on your clinical training prospects. Resurgens, being a key partner in our clinical rotation program, offers substantial opportunities for hands-on experience and learning. The restriction placed upon your rotation there limits these valuable opportunities.

It is crucial to understand that the quality and availability of clinical sites are vital components of your educational journey. The suspension from Resurgens sites may constrain the diversity and richness of clinical experiences available to you. Additionally, the competitive nature of clinical placements, influenced by the number of students enrolled and the availability of sites, could further impact the options available to you.

I urge you to reflect on this situation and its repercussions on your educational path. It is in your best interest to consider how future actions and communications might affect your professional relationships and opportunities. Our aim is to support your educational and professional growth, and navigating these challenges successfully is an integral part of your learning process.

Should you wish to discuss this matter further or explore ways to mitigate the impact on your clinical training, please feel free to reach out. We are here to assist and guide you through this phase of your education.  Please be advised that we are still awaiting the final details of your case from Resurgens HR and a potential **** response.  As I mentioned in our meeting on 11/6/2023, losing a clinical partner as large as Resurgens impact every Radiologic Technology students educational experience, not just yours.  While you await further details as they develop, it is imperative that you review your chain of command, your enrollment agreement, your *** student handbook, and your clinical agreement to ensure that you understand the contents of the documents that you signed and agreed to abide by.

Thank you for your attention to this matter, and we look forward to supporting you in your continued progress.

Your actual letter of account and email to Resurgens complaint line are given below:
      *********** requested statement
      November 4th, 2023
      Hello ***************,
Regarding the situation that happened on September 5th,2023, I did reach out to everyone in charge about the incident that occurred at the clinic. The First person I spoke to was you ****************) and you informed me that there was nothing that could be done as it is out of your hands, and you told me to follow up with ****************. In the meeting, I also asked if Mrs. **** had someone over her, but you told me she didn't, so I left it alone. When I spoke to **************** it was over the phone because she was not on campus at the time, and she told me my behavior was very unprofessional and it was not her priority to place me at the moment. **************** then continued to ask me to think about if this is something I want to do as a career, and she told me to "look at it on the bright side at least you don't have to drive so far anymore". When we first got our sites most of the class asked to switch sites as they also deemed it to be far, but we were going to still attend no matter what. Before I came to this school, I investigated the **ray program, and I knew a hundred percent that this was something I would love to do, and this was one of the first schools that caught my attention. I then reached out to the **** at the time, *****************, and she didn't say too much about the incident; instead, she referred me to the executive director ************. ************ never responded to the email, so I emailed her personally, and she still didn't respond. I eventually just left it alone since nothing was being done. I let time go by for a while before I reached out to Resurges regarding what took place. When I did reach out to Resurges my intention was to get that six-month ban dropped as I did believe it was a bit excessive. When I spoke with Mrs.**** regarding the situation, she told me she could have written me up for falling asleep during the clinic as it is against their rules, but she wasn't going to do that. I understood what happened and held myself accountable because it was not going to happen again as I do take my education seriously. My statement made about the area's history had nothing to do with Resurges itself and my intentions were not ill at all, as I didn't say anything offensive to anyone nor was I rude to anyone. Before we started clinical, we had orientation, which was when we met Mrs. **** and she introduced herself to us and explained a little about resurgens orthopedics. Before she left the school, she also informed us to reach out to her about anything pertaining to resurgent.

      Calas complaint to Resurgens:

      Hello resurgens team members,
My name is *************** and I am writing about a situation that occurred a few months ago. I hesitated to speak up at the time due to fear of retaliation, but I now believe it is important to address the issue. I am in school currently for the **ray program at Cambridge college and Resurgences does cooperate with my school.
Resurgence director, ********************** came to my school and spoke to us and encouraged us to reach out with any questions or concerns regarding resurgens.

On my first day as a student **ray **** at Resurgence, I had a small altercation that I Spoke to miss **** about and she told me that she usually writes students up for that, but she would not write me up and the conversation ended. About five minutes latter I received another call from Miss **** questioning me about how long my traveling was. I was commuting from dekalb county to *******************, so I explained it is about an hour and 30 mins for me, she told me I was lying and that she comes on that side all the time.

I then explained to her that I felt that I was being picked with. I explained to her that the area I was located in does have a high rate of discrimination. Miss **** did not like that, so she automatically said I would not be a fit for resurgence and banned me for six months, pushing my education back. I do not think that is right at all because we do have freedom of speech regarding discrimination and everyone experience is not the same.
I do not believe that I should have gotten my education pushed back and would like to speak to someone else regarding this situation. You may give me a call at ************
      Best regards
      ***************

      Thanks,
      Dr. *********************, *** Program Director

      Hi *****************,
I will drop in after my interviews today.  In light of this new development for *************, the program recommendation is to dismiss Cala.  We will not be able to effectively place her each semester because she is no longer able to rotate at Resurgens (our largest affiliate).  While we do have hospitals she will not be able to have a hospital site each semester as we must equitably distribute those slots to students in order for them to gain their required hospital competencies (OR, fluoroscopy, portables & trauma) and pediatric competencies.  They cant graduate without them. We are looking at having well over 100 students in the new year and she would be our lowest priority to place, meaning some semesters she would not be placed.

Please let me know your thoughts.

      Good morning ******,

We have yet to receive any additional communication from the **** regarding this matter.  We consider this issue to have been addressed and resolved to the satisfaction of all parties involved.  Per our previous dialogue, the complaint was invalidated through the students own admissions during our investigative process..

We are not open to her return at this time given the performance and behavioral deficiencies that were addressed while she was here.  For the health of our work environment, we believe she would benefit most from a fresh start with a new institution.

Ferel free to contact me directly if we need to discuss this further.

We look forward to continued success with our partnership in the future.

      Warm Regards,

      Good morning ****************,

I have spoken with ************** regarding concerns she raised with one of our leaders at Resurgens Orthopaedics.  During that discussion she mentioned that she had spoken with you regarding her concerns as well.  As part of my investigative process I was wondering if you had time this week for us to discuss your conversation so that I can determine the best path forward for all involved.  My day on Friday is relatively open we could meet via Teams or phone if you have availability.  I would expect the conversation to take no longer than 30 minutes.

Looking forward to speaking with you.

      Warm Regards,

attended Cambridge College of Healthcare & Technology during the start of the pandemic. During clinicals my cohort was limited by hospitals that would accept students which pushed our graduation date back. We signed new agreements that stated our graduation date would change to 4/2022. Towards the later part of the year while in lab on campus the program chair came to tell us that we would be graduating on time due to corporate wanting to get all the students back on track so we needed to double up on our clinical hours. We were assured that nothing would change financially and 100+ hours would be removed from our required clinical evaluation. I completed everything that was asked of me. December 2021 came and I had completed all requested paperwork, classes, tests, exams, interviews, labs, clinical comps, and clinical hours. I was expecting a degree only to find out that the school would not release my degree because now I owed $9k due to doubled clinicals and FASFA would not cover the cost. When I spoke with the financial aid advisor of Cambridge he stated that there was a miscommunication between the students and the school when it came to doubling up on clinical and the person that dropped the ball was no longer an employee with the company. The cost for the school is $50k I dont have an additional $10k for my degree. Also there are two different agreements given to me by the school and they both state different start and grad dates however the date signed are the same. There is a discrepancy, I did not sign the April graduation agreement on the same day as the August graduation date.

      Business response

This is a student that lives in ** and attended Cambridge College in *******,**.

The student filed a complaint with her attorney in ** which was sent to ** for review and respond.  The College responded back to all of the requested items that the attorney asked for on April 18, 2022.  To date we have not heard anything back from her attorney regarding next steps.
The student also sent a complaint to the Department of Education regarding the same issue.  The College submitted the required documents that was asked for as well and to date have not heard back as well. These items are pending.

The College followed the required measures taken during the Pandemic with our programmatic accreditor to have the students complete their program sooner by completing the required competency.

I believe the student is not understanding what the College is telling her about her account and the process.
