Dear BBB: The purpose of this letter is to report what I believe to be Deceptive Trade Practices and an alleged Scheme to Defraud by a FDBPR Licensed Contractor. Double A FDBPR License # ********** **** ********* **** ****** ** *********, Registered Agent ************, ******* ***** Business Tel # (**** ******** Background: Double A installed a 1.5 Ton A/C System at 1743 *** ****** ****, ************, ******* ***** on 5/5/2022. Technician names were sent via text from (***) ******** to owner on 5/5/2022 at 5:31 a.m.: (1) ****** ********, (2) *** ******, and (3) ** *****. The company offered a teaser rate of $5,999 and then deceitfully demanded the customer pay $1,999 more on the date of installation claiming a permit was already pulled and no one else could work on the property. Double A first gave a verbal quote over the telephone, then demanded full payment via credit card (versus a deposit), accepted full payment, then requested that I sign an “estimate,” which Double A claims to be a legal binding contract. How the con works: When anyone disagrees with the unrealistic increase in costs the company immediately goes into spin mode stating all conversations are recorded, you signed a contract, etc. On a conference call 5/5/2022 with 4 people present, ****** ********* with Double A stated, “I have already pulled a permit on the property and no one else can do the work.” Deceptive Trade Practices: No COJ Permit for an A/C installation at 1743 *** ****** **** ************, ******* ***** was requested/processed (************************************) by Double A. A transaction receipt was received on the first charge of $5,999 but NOT on the Second Charge of $1,999. After the installation, I called 3 different days to request a copy of the permit. According to COJ Permits, a permit was never requested or issued in 2022.

Good afternoon.  It sounds like there is not much we can do to change your opinion of our company.  You have complained to the BBB, the ******* Department of Business and Professional Regulation, and who else?

We would love to have this issue resolved for you.  You see, we simply made a mistake and had the address wrong by one digit when we pulled your permit (attached).  It seems the house has been sold to another party.  Are you able to provide access to the property for the inspector and any further visits that may be required by us or another contractor to make any needed corrections the inspector may find?  If you want this permit issue resolved, you must provide access for these reasons and you must also pay to have any work done that is beyond the scope of your contract with us that the inspector may find.  Please advise.

On 5-23-2022, I contacted AA AC Heating and Cooling to make an appointment for maintenance on my Central AC that they installed the previous year. The receptionist made the appointment for June 1, 2022 and told me $179.00 is required before the technician comes out. I gave her my debit card number. The next day, I saw that $179.00 was deducted from my checking account. Jun 1, 2022 , no technician ever arrives. I called the company that evening and they said they weren't doing any technician calls until September of 2022. I was a bit peeved that no one bothered to call me and said they were quick to take my money, but not send anybody and requested a refund. Over a couple of phone calls with different personnel at this company, I was assured that a credit on my account would be forthcoming in 3-5 business days. I expected it to be back in my account by June 6th or 7th, but so far, I have not received any refund. I am requesting your agency to contact the company and expedite a refund.
