I hired Shorebreak on 6/9/22 to replace my existing metal roof with an aluminum metal roof. I paid them a deposit of $25,054.00. They completed the work in August and I paid the balance of $26,356.38 on 9/20/22. On 9/27/22 I was in the attic during a wind mitigation inspection and observed several openings into the attic where flashing was not installed and discovered that my original ridge vent opening had been covered over with underlayment. I contacted Shorebreak about these issues via phone and sent an email with attached pictures. Over the next several months I attempted to contact the owner. However, he was not available and although I was always assured he would return my call, he never did. On 11/10/22 I contacted Shorebreak about a vent pipe boot leak and again advised that they still had not addressed the other issues. Nobody but their office staff was available and I was assured someone would return my call. That did not happen. After several failed attempts to speak with the owner I emailed Shorebreak on 12/13/22. I detailed all the attempts I had made to seek a resolution to these issues and attached pictures. This time I received a response and workers were sent to repair some of the issues. To date they have addressed my concerns except for the roof vent. I contacted Shorebreak on 1/11/22 and was told that all work at my home has been completed. When I questioned them about the fact my roof had not been vented I was told the owner would call me "right back". He never did. My roof was previously vented with a ridge cap vent that Shorebreak removed. Shorebreak did not vent my roof in accordance with ******* building codes.

      Business response

      02/10/2023

      Good morning,

We were hired by Mr. ********* to perform his re-roof in July/August of last year, 2022. We have had several contacts with him since then, regarding his roof concerns.

All necessary repairs to flashing have been made to Mr. ********** home and addressed.

Prior to the re-roof he had a visible ridge cap, that during the re-roof process everything on the roof was removed and all of it replaced with aluminum roofing material. The roof was Galvalume originally, switching to aluminum for re-roof. Everything that was removed during Mr. *********** re-roof was all replaced and replaced properly, up to state code and city standards.

I am attaching his final permit report as well. Showing that all city permits were pulled, and all inspections done (with their dates) which also all passed. Everything on the roof is up to standard and all state codes.

      Thank You

       Complaint: ********

I am rejecting this response because: My roof is not vented. Per state building codes my roof requires approximately 10 sq feet of ventilation. The existing roof had a ridge vent that was removed and covered over with underlayment and an unvented cap.  I have also contacted the city building department to inquire how the roof passed inspection without being vented. I could not tell until I was in the attic. I had discussed the ridge vent with Shorebreak prior to and during the project. I have contacted them several times about this issue and this is their first response  They have never contacted me or returned a call to address this issue.

      Regards,

      ******* *********
