            I hired this contractor to build a 2 car garage addition to my house back in 2019. The original contracted price was $28000. However, the company keeps asking me for more money. I paid $2812 for extra demolition, $1000 for extra tie beam work, $350 for making a small demolition work so that the engineer can see the structure of the roofing.There was a payment schedule, but sometimes the owner **** asked me to pay in advance because he didn't have enough money to pay his workers, so I did. He also asked me to pay for the truss and garage door. Garage door exceeded his budget which was $2000 and I paid $4000, I tried to be nice and I tried to split the difference and he agreed,However, he told me later that he never agreed, and he will not reimburse me any money for the door. The company failed many inspections (including city inspections and structural inspection from the engineer) which has costed me multiple re-inspection and new permit fees because they have used up all the extensions and cannot extend any more. They show up once every three months or when I tell them that I received permit expiration notice from the city, They also charged me for re-inspection fees which they should be responsible for. Every other month, the contractor NIck ********************** or his wife feigns a new illness "rendering" them to be unable to come to the job.The company finally made this project a fixed priced, and I paid an extra $6785 for the whole project and I paid in full. However, **** sent me an e-mail saying " I'm losing money by doing this job and I will not complete the job unless you pay me $4000 extra." He is not coming back to finish the job and now I have to hire a new contractor to finish the project and pass the final inspection from the city. There is a pile of debris in my back yard which his workers left, and continues sitting there for several months. They also destroyed pavement in front of the garage which **** will not fix.This project has been a disaster.

            A-1 Construction was found under the BBB A ratings, so for our projects, I telephoned A-1 this morning around 11:00 A.M. on Friday, 4/26/24. The phone was answered by a female sounding voice shouting into the phone, "Hello". I asked, "is this a business"? The response was , "Can I help you". Her tone of voice was loud, brusque, and rude. I inquired as to whether I was reaching the BBB A rated business, I was attempting to call. The female shouted "We get so many calls trying to sell us something, that I have to answer the phone that way." When I again, inquired if I was reaching A-1 Construction of ***************, the female complained that I had some nerve calling without identifying myself. I replied that my name and phone no. were displayed on her call display box, and that I was attempting to establish whether or not it was a business or not. I explained that I found her business under the BBB and that I had several home projects to present for estimates. Her phone slammed down in my ear and we were disconnected. I thought you should know. The person sounds like a mid-age female w/a British cockney accent, or an Australian accent. Perhaps if you phone them as a customer would, you might be able to learn how they greet their potential customers. Thanks. ********************* of ******************.
