They fixed my car, billed the insurance company $7000, but cannot produce 1 reciept. I believe it is because they did not do half of what they claim. he lied to me a couple of times, at least his story keeps changing. Now my car is useless, they wiil not give me a salvage title without the reciepts. This is a nightmare.Initial Complaint

I brought my 1999 Mercedes CLK320 to Custom Kar Tops to replace the convertible top December 28th, 2021. I picked up the car on 1/3/2022. When I picked up the car, I was told that the installer adjusted the cables in the convertible top. I was instructed to leave the top up for a few weeks. On February 2nd, I decided to put the top down on my car. When I went to put the top up, I noticed that the back window was broken and the convertible top would not latch closed. The company was contacted and I was asked to bring the car in on February 3rd, so that the owner could look at the car and take pictures. The owner took the pictures and then told me that he didn't think that his insurance would cover it and to turn it into my insurance. Two weeks later, I was told to bring in the car. The owner did tell me that the manufacturer advised them that the damage was caused by improper installation. The owner is very confrontational. I am worried about picking up my car at this point. We paid $2,400 for the top to be replaced. My convertible top worked when I dropped the car off. I just want to have my car back with the top able to be latched shut. At this time, my car is taking the chance of more damage due to being left outside in their lot without the back window or the top able to be closed completely.Business response

Business Response /* (1000, 12, 2022/03/25) */ This response was taken verbally by the BBB They brought the Mercedes and we proceeded with work and it was done beautifully, they picked up the vehicle and kept it for around a month and then came back with a broken window in the top and they complained that it was our techs fault. Before we tried to get verification, we have video of the top being done correctly, there was no fault of ours and did everything by the book. Consumer Response /* (3000, 14, 2022/03/30) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I had the car for 1 month before bringing it back because I was not to put the top down for a few weeks per the tech. This was the 1st time that the top had been put down. The top didn't even close once I put the top back up. I brought the car back due to the window broken and the top not closing. The convertible top worked correctly before I dropped the car off to have the fabric replaced.
