Coastal was hired to remove vinyl siding on the entire house that was damaged by the hurricane and replace it with *******************. Demo, install, paint and finishing was completed with great care and attention to detail. A few very minor glitches with material ordering and delivery but given the scope of the job, they were insignificant! ****, ****** and their crews were FANTASTIC. Their price was extremely fair and significantly less than other quotes for work on Sanibel. I have recommended Coastal to neighbors and friends that have commented on how great the house looks, post ***. I would hire Coastal again, which is about the best recommendation I can give a contractor.Coastal Exteriors, LLC Response

While at one time, this small family biz was 5 star, our experience was anything but. I will give them 5 stars for sales & marketing as initial meetings were good. We met owner, **** in Jan 2023 post Hurricane *** in SWFL, for estimate to replace siding/trim on our damaged home. We received a 62K quote, comparable to others, and decided to sign. We were told it would be ~6wks for materials and take about 2 wks to complete, so we were looking at job done end of April. Given supply chain issues/labor issues post hurricane and changes to labor force availability in FL, we expected delays. What we didn't expect was ghosting, failure to communicate, excuses, untruths and complete lack of acountability for things that went wrong (lost orders, inefficient supplier middlemen, wrong inventory delivered, poor workmanship, no quality control). Sadly, all mishaps that occurred with our job were never acknowledged by owner despite nothing but courteous inquiries on our part. Communication with owner was non-existent at worst and at best, was slow, lackluster and lacksidaisical. So frustrating as we are not ugly or disgruntled customers who act out. Had the owner stopped deflecting our concerns, blaming everything else under the sun, not taking responsibility/accountability and had at least communicated in a timely manner, this project would have been tolerable. This company bit off WAY MORE than they could chew with post Hurricane projects and it shows. There are still workmanship finishing issues that we're just not mentioning as any concerns will be ignored. The caulking job and carpentry are awful. Job site clean up was poor. Owner had a final walkthru w/us. He didn't acknowledge any of the glaring uglies. If our project represents this company's best work, buyer beware. Worst thing in contracting is lack of communication. Owner NEVER, not once, reached out to us first. And it seems he couldn't have cared less. Job completed in Oct 2023, 10 months after deposit. First off I appreciate your input as we strive to improve what we do on a weekly basis but I certainly wish you reached out to us first to address any concerns that you might have. Our office staff are great at what they do and are detailed and there is no record of you calling them to get any of this recorded into our system. The last year has been unlike any other and yes we certainly bit off more than we could chew and ****** learned on my part as I never want to go through that again. The supplier issues were legitimate, and we made changes to that issue after your job, just like everyone else they were over worked and under staffed. Having a lead guy that is responsible for quality and is English speaking has also been addressed but I personally walked the job with your husband 6 times to make sure you were satisfied with every aspect and we fixed everything you were unhappy with hence the final payment including the front railings that are not in our scope of work and are rotting and need to be replaced and based on these pictures you have the same issue with the rear railings. The missed siding and any other siding issues Ill be happy to address.Review from Cecily A

I have 15+ years in construction. My experience with Coastal Exteriors has been better than I could have expected during the post Hurricane *** demands for sub-contractors. ****, my initial contact with the company, was timely with the estimates and realistic about the timeframe I could expect work to begin. I have entrusted drywall, removal of facade and stucco installation, interior and exterior painting of my home to Coastal Exteriors and ******, the Operations Manager. He has been available to answer questions and ready to communicate with me. The quality of the work is near perfect. The job site has been cleaned and ready for the next phase of construction. The office staff (***** and *****) have been a great support partnering with me as we waded through my job specific paperwork. I am very pleased with my experience and would recommend Coastal Exteriors.Coastal Exteriors, LLC Response

Their web site, under the "Contact Us" heading, offers a free quote for their services. Needing repair and replacement of vinyl siding on my townhome due to hurricane Ian, I completed their form with all the information they requested. About 30 minutes later, that company texted me advising the they would charge me $100 for the "free quote". This amount, however, would be credited toward the cost of their services if I chose to hire them. How could I possibly agree to hire them without having any idea of what they would charge to complete the job! This is a deceptive practice; if they want to charge for a qutoe, fine, but don't entice people to contact them and provide contact information by offering potential customers a free quote!

Sir, as we explained to you in detail over the phone yesterday, the $100 fee covers several important costs for our small family owned company. Ever since Hurricane Ian we have received 4x the amount of leads as before. The $100 estimate fee covers the extra time it takes for our sales team to put together our very detailed estimates while contacting suppliers and trying to find materials during the material and shipping issues that SWFL is currently experiencing. We also simply do not have the manpower to pursue all of these leads. Having a fee ensures that we are arriving at appointments for clients who are seriously considering our company for the job. There is no ill intent. The $100 is then reimbursed to the client. After communicating this to you yesterday and apologizing for the inconvenience it cost you, we have also contacted our website developer to update our contact form, as this was completely missed. Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We wish you the best of luck in finding a company that suits your vinyl siding repair/replacement needs.
* We have not completed any work for this client and therefore do not think that it is fair to be reviewed by someone who has not had their home repaired by us. Thank you
