December 18, 2023 James ***** was contracted to do renovations in home. He offered to run project as labor plus materials due to the number of projects we wanted to work on. Asked for $2500.00 deposit. Paid to him by check. He cashed before started which was fully acknowledged. Started having issues with being overcharged for labor hours. Have several conversations about times we logged versus being invoiced. There was always some reason for mistake. We began to video all activities in the house. He brought in helpers who started poking into unauthorized areas of home. Had issues with him keep schedule and communicating any changes. He was very much in touch on Thursdays and Fridays to get paid. Then it became a daily request for payments. He would only allow us to pay via Venmo. Issue with time costs being overstated and some days he would be a no show but bill us full day of work. Quality issues became more of occurence. He offered to fix each on for free but would then submit invoice for time. Debris was not hauled off and areas we were not ready to have worked on were started before any other area was done. As of end of February he had yet to finish or be near finish any area. He had disconnected my laundry, bathroom and caused my oven to have electrical fire from drywall dust accumulation. All appliances were covered in dust and wiped with drywall residue. He began laying tiles in laundry and continually stopped to work on other clients. When we inspected the floor we found the tiles were not properly attached to the floor and would have cracked as the washer and dryer installed. I sent a mesage to owner politely recommending we terminate all work at that time and requested he return the deposit monies. I have requested the check prior during this time as work became issue. Was told not to worry he was using it to cover his time to install my floors. Company came and picked up all their tools. Left all the trash and has not responded

A contract was initiated 8/31/22 between myself and this business to remove paneling, install drywall, create an opening in the kitchen wall, trim back another kitchen wall so the refrigerator fits, install floor and ceiling trim, and paint all walls in the residence. The business operator, James, and I agreed on a completion date of 11/30/22. Little to no progress was made in Sept or Oct. James said he would begin working at the house every day in November to meet the completion date. This did not happen. The next agreed upon completion date was 12/15. The job was not complete 12/15. The next was 12/21 and it wasn’t complete. The next was 12/23, not complete. The next was 12/26, not complete. The lease for our current residence was ending 1/2/23 and we did not have a safe home to move into. Also, due to the continually missed completion dates, we didn’t know when we would be able to move in and therefore weren’t able to give our 30-day notice to our apartment complex. The lack of timely notice resulted in a $1940 charge from our apartment complex. James claimed to have completed extra work not listed on the contract on top of the work listed in the contract. However, our doors don’t fit in their frames, our kitchen countertop is not secure, he broke our patio door and didn’t repair it, the trim isn’t complete, there are paint stains throughout our house, our bathtub drain is completely clogged due to the paint he poured down it, he hasn’t returned the key to our house, and yet he made us pay approximately $9,000 more than the amount on the contract for the “extra work” that he put in. I believe we are entitled to compensation from the business for the damage caused to our patio door and bathtub, but I know we are entitled to have our key back. I am asking for the key and compensation only. I don’t want repairs from the business due to the dishonesty and lack of integrity experienced from 8/31/22 to present day. I don’t want him in my home ever again.

This was a modular home that we replaced all paneling with half inch drywall as well as trimming out all doors and windows with extensions there was several items added to the original contract which pushed our date back from the original completion date also there was no completion date on the contract we had a verbal agreement that we would be done somewhere around November being that the painting of All trim was added as well as the painting of another room as well as the painting of all ceilings as well as the painting of all doors as well as the painting of all window trim our time was pushed back somewhat also we were never paid to install any countertops that she complains about us not putting incorrectly also there was Plumbing issues with the bathtub before we got there and we never did dump any paint down any bathtubs we had to clean out station at my shop that we use to clean out everyday that we were finished the back patio door was broke due to wind because the latch did not work we cannot be liable for that because it was not our fault that the latch does not work as far as the house key that was misplaced by myself

Attached are photos of floor upon completion of job as well as a screenshot with date of demo completion this proves that your being dishonest Ms. *****. I don't know why the picture of dust in tub ....we vacuumed all of it up and besides you stated it was paint.....as far as the latch on your screen door I did stated I would look at door and that I and I quote "think" my worker may have left door open and wind grabbed it ...but your latch was broke is why I decided we were not at fault. Please try to be a more honest and not so misleading. And of course I am concerned with protecting my image ....I've worked hard to keep up a good name and defamation of character well your not far from it mam.
