The average cost for entire face Botox in the state of Florida is $515-$625, according to **************************************, When I saw the Botox specialist in September 2021 at *** ******'s office, I assumed I would probably spend about $1,000 for "the works." To my surprise, the bill was more than $2,000 for about 15 minutes of her time. She offered a free follow up but told me to wait AT LEAST TWO WEEKS for the results to settle in. Five weeks out, I saw her, and showed her that there was little result for my hard-earned $2,000 (TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS) that I paid her. My forehead, covered in wrinkles looks extra strange, as she pulled up the outer tips of the eyebrows in such a way to cause increased wrinkles on my temples. The Botox specialist had her manager also accompany me into the office so that the two of them could team up and tell me how "great" my $2,000 result looked, even though I am a mature adult and can look in the mirror and clearly see no positive result. If you've ever been to a beauty salon that butchered your hair, you'll recall that they use that same obnoxious verbal technique to downplay a bad result. "Oh! You look great! Your orange hair looks wonderful!" I was then told that it was "too late" to get any free follow up because (get this) the $2,000 of Botox was already wearing off! The Botox specialist did not wish to provide her last time when I said I was going to lodge a complaint. In an online article titled "5 signs that your Botox is botched," it states in significant part ~ 4. You have a 'spock' brow This this is the term given to eyebrows which upturn sharply and unnaturally, which is usually a result of the wrong muscle being injected. (that's my result) "Good Botox makes you look like a better version of you, not an extra from Star Trek." Rather than admitting that the Botox was administered wrongly or not enough, the office manager & Botox specialist wanted to engage in a long debate with me ETC. ETC.

      Business response

      11/09/2021

November 9,2021 Dear Sir or Madame, *********** Please allow me to respond to the patient's complaint which was filed on October 2A,2021. It appears the patient clearly does not understand what product(s) she received at her treatment September 9,2021. On September 9,2021 she came to see our injector at which time a consultation was performed and it was agreed upon that the patient would receive 3 areas of Botox (1. forehead, 2. frown lines, and 3. crows feet) and 2 syringes of filler for her lips and lower face totaling $1770. The 3 areas of Botox totaled $520. Normally our Botox costs $260 per area however as part of a September special she received one area for free. lt is important to note that her only complaint post treatment was her forehead which cost $260 or could be considered the free area, not $2,000 as the patient claims. (please see itemized invoice) Botox is a neuromodulator that is injected into certain muscles of the face to temporarily relax or paralyze the muscle for the purpose of preventing wrinkles or softening their appearance. lt takes approximat ely 14 days for full muscle relaxation to occur and wears off gradually over a 3 month period. lt is therefore best practice to receive Botox every 3 months as it is a temporary treatment. Patients are counseled on this and are advised to call our office for free touch ups 2 weeks after their initial injections if they are still experiencing movement in the treated area. The patient did not come back to the otfice until 7 weeks after treatment and complained she was experiencing movement at that time. Since Botox wears off gradually, we anticipate movement in the treated areas to start returning around the 7-8 week mark with full movement returning around 3 months. A "free touch up" at 2 weeks is an industry standard , notT weeks as the patient is trying to claim. (Please see signed informed consent)

Touch ups may be needed for various populations but most commonly for mature adults. As we age the skin thins and loses elasticity causing the eyelids to become heavy. When the frontalis (forehead muscle and only elevator of the eyebrows) is injected with Botox, it can cause brows and therefore eyelids to become heavier, impeding vision and functionality. For this reason, we adjust our dosage and injection pattern in individuals like this patient with heavy eyelids to keep the eyebrows high and lids light. ln some cases, the brow will maintain some movement above the arch in which case we request that the patient return in 2 weeks for a free touch up which the patient did not do in this case. Furthermore, she has well established lines on her forehead. lt was explained to her that Botox would not make these lines disappear with one treatment. Botox works by temporarily relaxing the muscle so that it cannot crease the skin and leave a wrinkle behind. lt has no direct effect on the skin itself. ln cases like this patient more than one treatment of Botox is needed to soften and eventually completely fade the lines. This was explained to her at her consultation and she demonstrated verbal understanding at the time. ****, our injector and ********, her manager, both spent time explaining this to our patient, who was not happy with the outcome. lt was offered to have *** ****** see her and at this visit, however, the patient decided not to meet with *** ****** and she left. On a side note, she has been a patient in our office multiple times. Over the years we have had several injectors. Looking through her chart it does appear she has never been happy with any of them. Additionally, she has been combative with *** ******, insisting he perform a procedure he does not recommend. We will no longer offer her any services and will be discharging her from our practice. I am attaching a copy of her invoice for the services she received that day. As you can see it was not over $2000 as the patient is claiming and the specific area (forehead) she was unhappy with cost her $260 or could be considered the free area worth $260. I'm sorry she isn't happy with her result, however, our office offers complimentary consultations for the main purpose of educating the patient and discussing budget and cost as well as expected result. We have every patient review and sign informed consents which I have attached. She initialed and signed that she was aware of the "touch up" policy. l'm happy to discuss this further. As you can see this in not as cut and dry and she would like you to believe. Our office did our due diligence at the time of consultation and treatment. The patient signed the consents stating she understood the benefits as well as any risks and the touch up policy. We will not be offering her a refund.

      Sincerelv,

      ****** ******

      Office Manager
