We hired Crotty Services Inc. (CSI) to install a new septic system for our home. They completed the install on Oct. 5, 2023. On Feb. 1st, 2024, we had a backup in the gray water line that runs to the septic tank. We started looking into what caused the backup. After digging up dirt around the sewer line we found that the piping installed by CSI connected from the outside house plumbing to the septic tank was placed on an upward slope towards the septic tank. This is not up to county or city code. Through observation, waste from the bathroom connected to this line is not making it to the septic tank, and instead is traveling away from the tank up the gray water line due to the upward slope of the pipe running towards the septic tank. The system is now showing signs of a new backup as of Mar. 3. I first called ******* CFO of CSI, on Feb. 11 to report the issue, and she stated that all piping leading to the tank needs to be on a declining slope to be up to code. This way the solid waste flows into the tank, whereas when the slope is on an incline, the solid waste will not fall into the tank leading to a backup like we experienced. She said she would speak with *****, President of CSI, and have someone come out to level the lines so that they are up to code. Since then ***** has only communicated with us via email. He will not come out to look at our issue unless we agree to potentially pay a $350 service fee if he does not think that it is a warranty issue. Our system warranty is for 5 years. We paid this company $12,750 to correctly install the system, which they did not do. We do not think it is fair to pay CSI any additional money due to an incorrect install of this piping, which is now causing back **** Prior to the install, we did not experience any backup or backflow of sewage up the gray water line. We would like them to either reinstall our tank at a lower depth, or level the pipes so that they are up to code and maintain a continuous declining slope.
